Dracula 1931 Crest Ring Sterling Silver Prop Replica

Now, for the first time in history, you can own an exact, licensed copy of the ring that Bela Lugosi wore in his quintessential performance as the lord of the undead, Dracula. Our engineers have located the original Dracula Crest ring in the collection of Forrest J. Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman has graciously agreed to allow us to photograph and mold this original ring for our replica. Great pains were taken to make sure that no shrinkage occurred in the molding process. This included obtaining numerous photographs and dimensions and the creation of a platinum master mold. The replicas were then taken directly from this mold.

This replica will be created using .925 sterling silver.

Price: $199.99

I thought the same thing, but naysaying them doesn't do anyone any good. Just because I don't understand the logic doesn't mean it isn't sound, I suspect there probably are a large number of fans of classic horror. More power to em, I hope they sell out and have to start selling CE version or something. I am excited about QMX doing the Serenity ship, and if they get that out I will absolutely buy one. Hopefully some of these other products will get their cash flow going. Also these will provide us with some real completed transactions so we can hear customer feedback on the quality of their products and CS experience with this new company.

I think it is a beautiful ring, and would love to pick one up. Remember that a prop like this will not only appeal to collectors like us, but also Goths and Dracula fans, so i don't think it is a bad choice at all.

I find it funny they say that it's available for the first time...those have been for sale before under another seller since back in the late 1980's, I almost bought one back then but thought the price was too much at the time.

There are BILLIONS of things TWICE as stupid as all of those listed above that MILLIONS of people collect and purchase passionately. I think it's crazy to point fingers at stuff that we dont' appreciate and say "you'd have to be crazy to pay for that thing" when there's probably more people doing that to us than we are to them

Then again, it's also the nature of the RPF to make "predictions" on the sales of products. Who among us thought that Boba Fett blaster from MR would sell out, when everyone here felt that they made the "wrong" version? I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

While I won't be getting this ring, I still think it's cool that they're making it available for those people that ARE passionate about that piece. it will fill a hole in their collections, and I can appreciate it from that perspective.

Ah, but was it licensed??? The copy from MasterUnobtaniumConceptStudiosMechanics says a few things that could give them wiggle room over anything that was released previously.


And yes, as far as I can tell, MiM is a reseller for QMX stuff.

1) The prior ring was not licensed, so our description text is correct as-written.

2) The prior ring was not molded directly from the original prop.

3) The prior ring was not endorsed by Universal or Forrest Ackerman. This one is.

3) We have a LOT of interest in this item, so there are many people who do "get it".

4) As our pal, Matt so astutely noted, if it isn't your cup of tea...that's cool. We have plenety of other tea-drinkers to whom we can sell.

I dont' understand people who collect ten different versions of the Obi Wan Ep 4 lightsaber, but I recognize that they enjoy it and are passionate about it, so...C'est La Vie. I don't post my concerns about it...I just quietly own ONE version.

5) Even with the licensing fees, royalties, and a hefty donation of each sale to Forrest Ackerman, it is STILL one-third the cost of the prior ring (IIRC).

6) It is SOLID .992 Sterling and heavy as heck. There is a boatload of genuine silver in that ring. For the money, it is actually quite a steal.

It is a awesome product and we are proud to be involved in its (licensed) production.

But we could be a bit biased...

Well I did not know about #6 so the price feels more in line. Still I was hoping for some lower cost items.

Seriously though I don't think what I said is shocking. I never said it wouldn't sell just that I can't imagine the market for it being that great. I would have thought that a new company would want to try to appeal to as wide an audience as possible in what is a very niche market that's all. So I hope it does sell well so that QMX can survive long enough to produce something I am interested in.

I quess there are as many people out there who consider Chuck Norris movies classics as there are old 1930's Dracula movies

theres a market for everything, and this one falls under the same as the creature from the black lagoon hand. classic horror movie props.

didnt someone offer up a candle stick holder or something like that a few years back from the dracula movies?

I think you've hit it, Sporak. Many folks here probably aren't old enough to have experienced the Universals in a world free of CGI. Computers in general, actually. I remember watching Dracula on the basement couch (in the dark) when I was about eleven. Back in ~1975. Good clean fun.

I guess it's all relative. Visual effects are a very important part of story telling to make the whole experience immersive. That's not to say that without visual effects you can't have a great story. I am no stranger to old movies such as Forbidden Plant and Metropolis and can recognise the original ideas which have influenced many a modern film today but I can also recognise that they have dated badly. I'm quite sure there was a generation of kids who found these guys terrifying but I just find them hysterical to watch because of what I'm accustomed to.

These really old horror flicks are so old that they never got mainstream air play when I was growing up. The only way to see these movies is by viewing specialist channels or DVD. I've seen clips of these films and again they are the least scary looking movies ever so I would rather watch a more believable remake in COLOUR
