Finally got this little project done today. Pinched the great idea and the poster printed on A2 canvas and painted over using thickened acrylics. Think I'm going to roughly cut the canvas out and weather the edges. Going to keep my eye out for an old gold frame to display, or may weather a cheap one. Fairly easy to do as you're just painting over to add texture, with a few gaps around the edges to fill in. Definately worth having a go as the texture looks great.

That looks really great! Did you make a high resolution copy of the poster first?

I want to try my hand at the same project, but I can't find a high enough resolution photo since I want to make it 36"X48" so it takes up a significant portion of my living room wall.

If you are feeling charitable, could you post the pdf of the pandorica opens exploding tardis?
