on the cover of the magazine is a copy of the doctors watch it has no lights no moving parts but looks to be cast from the same mold as the toy
so i bought it i can always add lights to it if i want and a quick repaint will make it look better it made from plastic and has very little weight
but if any one wants one to hack up ...for 2 pound and ten pence you cant go wrong...........heres some pics

I saw this in my local shop the other day. I was tempted, but passed up on it. I was a bit embarrased about taking it to the counter, haha!

Now i've seen how accurate it looks i've changed my mind!

If I were to buy this, how easy would it be to take appart for re-painting?

Also, what paint would you reccomend? I've got some plasticote pewter in the garage, wonder if that would look right?

I'm useless at painting, would it need an undercoat? If so, what should I use to do it??

thanks

Vandark

thats the toy
its not that expensive ...........i would search elsewhere for it
and to answer vandark i have not tried to take it apart but it looks like the lens part just clicks out i will try later .......but if it will come easy then there is the watch face it looks like a sticker lenticular (if i spelt that right) so i hope it will peel out easily or i will mask it off after that a straight primer and respray in silver then a nice black wash
both halves seem to be glued together

just tried to remove the lens it seems to be glued in i cracked it a little didnt even apply much pressure...... but no worry i will have to mask the lens and respray

Just went out and got one of these. I managed to get the clear plastic cover off, but I snapped off the little tabs in the process. One of the tabs is glued in. Might try to fill the watch with something through the tab holes, give it a bit of weight.

The face of the watch is a sticker, managed to get it off, but I might try to make some better artwork anyway.

The watch cover seems to pop off quite easily too, ready for painting.

Would be interesting to se what you come up with.

I'll post some pics if I get it done.

I have one and I wish they would have just given me another button without the doctors voice and just the sound. It is a watch and it runs. It's fine for the cost which for me was around 20 bucks.

nice one vandark my watch lens wont budge i have tried
i am glad your came away without problem
post pics of your watch when you upgrade
i would love to see it

Ok, here's my first attempt.

I sprayed it with a mixture of silver and pewter metallic paint, then rubbed it all over with black boot polish for the weathering. The I added a few layers of black wash to bring out the detail. I'll probably add some rust washes too, maybe not accurate, but it will look cool!

I've added a new face to the watch, but i'm not happy with the artwork, so i'll update it later.

Overall, i'm pretty happy with it, looks great to display.

nice so far what you going to replace the inside with any ideas yet
there is a pretty good pic of the inside on page 6 of the magazie perhaps you could work from that

i havnt started mine yet as i have no workshop area i have to wait for dry weather and wales is wet and snowy again:lol

The lenticular decal in the free watch is pretty accurate for the Family of blood watch used by the doctor, it mimicks the scene the watch is first opened (by the schoolboy) and its glowing effect.

If anyone could grab one of these and ship it to the US, it would be fantastic! I don't need a working replica, just an "Old broken watch" that does not need to be opened.
