Dr. Theopolis size?

I would love to get a Theo kit:love I have wanted one for years.
I have no talent to add, but would buy one if it was ever made:thumbsup

Wanted to bump this thread with a few new images I capped recently as well as some info regarding the "mid-grade" model that was on Ebay. I sent a message asking a few questions regarding size, took a while but I got a brief response.

Here's what he said for size of the prop:

about 14 inch round

I asked about a COA and he said that he didn't have one. Here's the mid-grade:

I watched a few episodes and it seems that the best, closest shots of Dr. T. were in the first episode. I used to think that it was made from many layers and types of cut plexi but the shots I got show it's really just two layers not including the raised portions with the LEDs. It also appears that the back graphic for the mid-grade piece is the same as the one used for Dr. T.

Here's the caps I made.

By the way... here's one of the reasons I started watching the show back then... :love

...and here's one of the reasons I was embarrassed to say I watched the show. ;)

I think it's really fascinating to see how they gave us the impression that Theo was incredibly ornate, but in fact wasn't very complex at all. Excellent design on the part of the prop builders.

So, the person said 14 inches around... does that mean circumference or diameter or radius? Surely not radius as that would make the diameter 28 inches. As for a 14 inch diameter, 14 inches is almost the span of the front of MY torso, so in comparison to the little person in the Twiki suit (Felix S.), not possibly diameter. I mean, I gotta be bigger than Felix Silla... even IN the Twiki suit!
So they must actually mean circumference... which grossly puts the unit at 4.45 inches diameter.

I sincerely doubt that's accurate.

Are you in contact with this person? Can you pump them for more accurate info? Are they playing "misinformation games"? Or are they just that gawd-awful at making measurements? Believe me, some people are!

As for a kit of Theopolis, Bradleyfett and I are very serious about doing it. After the holidays, Mark will have the opportunity to translate his layout files to some standard measurements and I'll start in with the laser cutting and the vacuum-forming.

I want one too.

By the way... Gil Gerard was only in that show to act as an audience surrogate.

The girls were there to act as an audience pipe-dream.

Man, Erin Gray was SMOKIN HOT!!! (still is!)

I would say that the guy probably didn't even look at the item. It was probably boxed up and they just didn't want to take the time. I sent several follow up questions but never got any further response from them. :unsure

As was Pamela Hensley!! :love

about 14 inch round

Using the ic on the forhead as a reference it's a little over 9 chips wide.
Given the angle it seems the ebay prop is 9 inches wide.

WOW :eek

Thanks Mike!

I take it that this is a stunt version? There are a few differences in several of the plastic pieces, such as the eyes. Also, it doesn't appear to have any of the eye, mouth, brow or other LEDs inside. I see there is a cord so it might be for the simple white lights that were seen in some of the action scenes.

Outstanding and thanks for sharing! (y)thumbsup

THANK YOU MIKE!!!

Wow...check out those wiggly band-saw cuts! And they didn't even clean up the edges of the plates inside! Guess hey didn't have to... I never noticed it until just now in super-close up!

This is GREAT info, Mike. Thank you for posting!
