well, here is my internal struggle,
i can only afford to get 1 of these :angry

A Don Post Deluxe Fiberglass Darth Vader helmet
-mint condition
-# around 800 of 1000, or (#189 currently selling by a member here)

or

A 1978 Darth Vader 12 Back figure
-AFA rated around 80 or more

now which one would you guys get?
they are approx in the same price range right now
i'm leaning towards the 12 back figure.

anyone want to share some info? tips?
to help me make my decision? :D

yeah i've thought of that too, how do you keep yours?
i was thinking of putting it in a small safe, and lock it up, put some wrappings on the star case that will trap out moisture.

12- Back.....even though I sold mine last year, they are very cool. Buy some display cases for protection and keep them out of the direct sunlight. Mine was even unpunched.

12 back...I don't yet have one myself...would love to get the perfect one...there are much better helmets out there than the DP Deluxe.

:cheers,

Thomas

So, what's the draw to getting the figure? Is it the nostalgia or rarity? Or is it because there are nicer Vader helmets out there?

12-back Vaders pop up on a regular basis, as do DP Deluce helmets.

I´d say go get the 12-back, if you compare the price development over the past 10 years, the 12-back beats the DP helmet by miles.

Go for the 12 back.

Nothing beats a vintage carded figure,as i would think thats where most of us started in 1977 :)

Looks like the votes are unanimous. You might as well go for the figure. When you DO have more money, you can go for something nicer than a DP.

I wouldn't have expected such a huge number of 12-backs here. Personally, I'd go for the helmet. The 12-back is cool and perhaps a better investment. But the helmet won't likely lose any value and it would mean more to me than the figure. IMO.
