It's nothing short of bizarre that no photos seem to exist that show the RIGHT side of the helmet! I never noticed that until you brought it up and I went through my stash of Winter Soldier photos.

Also, there are NO clear photos of that darned giant buckle on the back of the Stealth Suit. I'm having a leather company make the straps for me, but I have no good reference for that stinkin' buckle!

Does anyone here have a clear photo they could post to put me out of my misery?

Thank you, Grey Matter. The people at Gentle Giant claim that 18" statuette was made from digital photos of the real costume. I wish we could get ahold of those ourselves!

Yeah, that buckle is funky... never seen anything like it.... I looked for a bit but came up empty.... not sure, I'm guessing it's a custom piece that works similar to tool box latch... but that's just a guess...

Actually - and I hope no one laughs too much at this - but this looked familiar to me - like I've used something like that at some point in my life. Then I figured it out.

It is very similar to the metal closures on children's raincoats from the 70's and 80's. See the pictures below. I'm actually considering finding one of these on sale online and buying it to see if I'm right.

And no, the ones I had as a kid were NOT the Care Bear variety :lol

I admit... nothing... except, perhaps, that I am old enough to remember raincoats like the one above.

I've tried to find an analog to that buckle type, but haven't yet. The closest I got to it was something in the draw latch family, but nothing with the curved, spring-loaded latch like this one (how this one *appears* to be, anyway).

OK one more question if I wanna make the new TFA helmet work.. there are a couple things with the leather parts.. the ears are more "puffy" and ist has 10 holes instead of the 6 on the original TFA helmet. Also there is this difference... If anyone would know where to find that?

I would be very keen on a Finished TFA helmet. Love the look of the Smithsonian suit. But only if you're doing the leather parts as well, got stuck with my first helmet for my TFA suit because I couldn't get the leather made.

Ok I'll mark you down. Although I'm not doing an Avengers cowl?? And complete right now would be a helmet shell painted.
