Dollhouse: series finale **Spoilers**

So what did everyone think of the dollhouse series finale? I am going to step out on a limb and say that the series being canceled was a good thing. It gave Joss a clear window in which to wrap things up. I think these big drama shows can tend to drag on (i.e. lost and x-files). I really loved all the twists and turns this ended up taking.

For anyone that doesn't know, you NEED to really watch the 'tentative' series finale from season 1 that is on the DVD box set it's an unaired episode (13) since the series was picked up for season 2... It is actually part 1 of the series finale that was just aired but Fox didn't want to purchase it... It will fill in a lot of blanks that you might have had watching the one they just aired which was actually a part 2...

I always thought the series was developing way too fast for it's own good in the long term, basically it was written to only be a one or two year series, anything more and yeah it would have been dragged out...

The show had it's own thing going, that's for sure. It got close to achieving that upper level of greatness at times. Sure, it got rushed at the end... would've loved to see this story play out over a few more years rather than the sprint to the end we got.

Season 2 was incredible, the last half of the season was spectacular, I have to agree that it was progressing very fast, but I think if given a third season it would have been great. I think that since joss knew it was going to end he threw everything at it, its seriously one of my favorite shows, and yes, you have to watch epitaph 1 before epitaph 2, what a great way to end the series!

Agree it started out as a very simple T&A show that I rolled my eyes at for the first few episodes of the first season, but being a Eliza Dushku fan I kept watching (hell the T&A didn't hurt), and to my surprise it continued to grow as a show with a real story and plot well beyond the initial T&A...

Season 2 was phenomenal IMO sad to see it go...

yes I watched season 2 all day yesterday and got to Epitaph part 2 and was like wtf did my dvr miss part 1 then I read about it being on the dvd. Thankfully i found it streaming on the interwebs so I could finish the series out.

I enjoyed the last half dozen episodes but I just never once felt connected to the characters. I don't think I'll really miss the show.

I really like Whedon but his writing seems to be becoming a bit cliched to me now. There were a lot of Whedon-moments in the last few episodes... stuff we've seen before in Buffy, Firefly and even in Dr. Horrible. Like having Topher realize he loved Summer's character and then, of course, the "surprise" ending to that relationship which is exactly the same situation with Willow and Tara, Dr. Horrible and Penny or to a lesser extent, Zoe and Wash in the Serenity movie.

Yet again, I find myself wishing Firefly would have had a chance at a second season instead of Dollhouse...

I find Whedon's stuff to be fun and well developed, but certain elements to be tedious and predictable.

His "kill people when they're happy" thing gets old. His predilection for dropping ten-ton cartoon weights on people in relationships gets REALLY old. I understand that relationships end, but I'd think it'd be more interesting to see a long-term relationship with its ups and downs where people DON'T get killed by stray lumber, bullets, freeze rays, or falling pieces of Space Station Mir or whatever. At this point, you can see it coming a mile away and it just makes me roll my eyes.

What was "shocking" in the late 1990s is now cliche in a Whedon project.
