Dollar Store Iron Man Arc Reactor Contest

So the pics will be submitted on the 25th?
Im excited guys, I dont know about everyone else but I cant wait :D

I'll either have to submit pics on the 19th before I leave town or on the 28th when I get back in town. Who do we send them to and what are the parameters for photos?

um i think DarthCalibar is the contest head, but he hasnt been on in over a month. either way i'd pm him with your pics early if you cant make it on the 25th. and im not sure but i believe you need shots of your raw materials, and then a shot or two of your finished reactor.

well with that being said, I'm going to send my stuff either tonight, or sometime tomorrow, I will most likely be able to make the 25th deadline but if something comes up I dont want to worry :D

Has anyone been in contact with DarthCalibar since 6/24 (the last time he was on the forum)? I have attempted to contact him via email and have not heard back.

i got the stuff but never managed to put it together hope everyone else get it done take my name of the list

Hi, iv'e created a couple of arc reactors for the movie accurate and custom design competitions but due to the lack of any good pound shops or cheap supply stores in my area iv'e had to puchase my materials off the internet, so i dont have any receipts. I was wondering if I display links to where I purchased all the mateials for each arc reactor which showed that each item was under £3 and that cumiltavely each arc reactor cost under £20 to make would that be accepted?

My gut feeling is no. Finding cheap stuff on the Internet does not have the same limitations as having to work with what you can find in the pound/dollar store environment. I'm open to other opinions, of course.

I decided to hold off on submiting my pictures, I just have one question though. If darth does not show up on the 25th who should we send the stuff to?

If no one else steps up to the plate I volunteer to run the voting as I'm not entered in the contest.

That said give Darth a chance, he may have something going on that's keeping him from this. :)

*If* he doesn't show up on the 25th I'd say extend the deadline to the 30th to allow for sending pics to the new address.

Please do not extend the deadline. This has been going on waaaay long already. I can't take it for another five days!

Shylaah

I agree. If you couldn't get this together in 2 months what is 5 days going to do for you?

1. True, but what if someone need or wants to put finishing touches or something?
2. I can think of something a little more important......

I'm sorry, but I'm a little more worried about Calibar's recent absence then a dead line for HIS competition. I hope he's okay and his family is too, since he said something about his father finally recovering.

I did keep this in mind when I was buying materials. So I used quite basic materials in both of my arc reactors, its all the sort of stuff you'd expect to see in a pound/dollar shop. They're both basically made up of a coffee filter, copper wire, card, candle wax and a spotlight. Do you think that would help, since the arc reactors are inkeeping with the limited/basic materials idea of the contest?

I agree, but if I had actually been able to build mine.... Dollar Stores be damned.... I would still be looking for better parts and trying to rule out any imperfections, even after I finished submitting pictures.

I still plan to make an arc reactor out of "Dollar store" Parts, they just one be from a dollar store, they will be from Walmart and Walgreens and CVS (Have $100 in gift cards to the two) and homedepot, but each part costs less then $5 and some of it I can get for free from friends.
