Dollar Store Iron Man Arc Reactor Contest

I'd say you have to buy everything except glue and paint.

I agree...Defeats the purpose of having it be a Dollar Store contest if you can use things you already own. :wacko Or least having a limit on what you can spend anyway.

Yes, you've got it. If you use some junk pieces here and there that's fine, we just don't want reactors made entirely out of "junk". haha.

So, would I be right to say that any "functional" pieces (Light, sound, effects) should either be purchased directly from a dollar store or sourced in some way from the same type of store, while non-fuctional/form-elements (Wire for decoration, plastic bits, etc) can be pulled from our junk?

I just want to make sure I follow the rules to a T!

You can use scrap stuff, but keep in mind it should be kept to a minimum. If you want LEDS in it though, those should be taken out of something you purchased at the dollar store.

For everyone who was asking about using junk bits...

I did a quick recce of the Dollarama lastnight... I'm ready to get my hands dirty!

Count me in!

Dollar Tree GOLD MINE. It's fun digging through all the unrelated toys with Iron Man's face printed on them.

I'm in. If nothing else, its an excuse to build the Arc Reactor I was planning on building anyway for my Ironman Suit. Ironman FTW!:)

Oh, you know I'm in! I've been working on ideas for an "Under $15" Arc Reactor on and off for awhile, already have templates ready!

Hmm, I think I'll give this a shot. Been too long since I've actually made something with my hands.

Edit: Question, does tax count against the grand total?

I'd like to enter the contest too! Sounds fun! It'll give me a reason to actually make something again, hehe.

I'll dig around and see if I have anything to donate for a prize too.

Not sure if I need to PM you or not for contest entry, so I'll just post here for now.
