Does dye sublimation work on metal?

I know next to nothing about this, but I bet someone here does.

Can dye sublimation graphics be applied to metal, and if so then how?

We used to dye-sub print at work, but don't anymore. You can print on almost any substance (that doesn't melt at 400 degrees) if you coat it with this paste-like substance first. It's kind of like Elmer's glue... goes on white, dries clear.

You can also buy pre-coated metal pieces, cut to shape and ready to print.
