I'm going to try and build this alternative 8th Doctors Sonic with nothing but adapted bits and bobs found lying around the house.

Looking good Oblivion! Can't wait to see how this turns out - I always find builds using stuff that was just laying about all the more fascinating. There's just something about being thrifty that I love!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, It's probably a harder way of building a prop, but hey, you know, it's more fun and I feel a greater sense of achievement than if I'd stuck a rod on a lathe and cut away ;)

Spent a few hours today weathering down the base to give it a more oxidized brass appearance using satin varnish mixed with black poster paint and green emulsion.

Found an old aluminium slimline torch to cannibalize for the crystal/fin emitter housing.

Now I just have to countersink the screws and give it a quick wet'n'dry.

Did a test cast in plain resin plaster from the mold of the crystal I sculpted and it turned out fine.

So now I've mixed up some crystal resin for the final piece.

You're welcome. When this model first appeared I have to admit I didn't like it. The more fan builds of it I see, especially one as good as this, the more it's working it's way into my heart.

It looks big and cumbersome, and it is, but it's also, surprisingly, very pleasing to hold, I really like it.
