Im looking for a shirt similiar to either of the shirts that 11 wears in season 6. Not counting the blue one since i have it but its pretty basic... I see some good fabrics on Itailor that look pretty similiar to the striped shirt that he wears but cant decide between them. Any other ideas?

The closest to the striped shirt that iTailor has is number 225-A06-159 on p10. They don't really have a good match for the checked tattersall shirt - try ModernTailor.com instead.

Modern Tailor has a check fabric that is SOOOOO close to the real thing, it almost pains me to say it's not completely exact! It's like getting to the last stage of a video game only to lose power in your house...(that's happened to me before).
If you have some money to spend, go to Steve Ricks for his S6 "Utah" shirt replica (I currently have one on order from him)
The blue shirt is not quite as simple as it looks. It should have a "basket weave" pale blue fabric, with mytered cuffs and a british tabbed colar.

I saw that one and but i wasnt sure if the striped shirt that 11 wears is more of a purple or a blue? Because the fabric on page 10, 225-A06-161 is pretty close too... Steve Ricks siad on his blog that he used the 161 but i havent seen any pictures of it and its killing me that i dont know what it would look like..

I would almost buy the checkered fabric just because it's as close as i would get. Sadly though, anything i get from Steve Ricks would take at least half the year for me to save up that kind of money ):

Seriously though, has anyone bought a shirt from itailor with the 225-A06-161 fabric yet? Really be helpful to know what it looks like..

I'm waiting to hear back from Moderntailor.com to see if they can get us the correct or VERY close check fabric. Since Smith wears the check shirt more often than the others, I would say it's the standard shirt, much like the burgundy bowtie is the standard.

Close but the checks are the wrong color. They should be brighter blues and browns and the fabric itself more off white.

The screen used one is missing the herringbone pattern in it too i think..

Nope, the screen used one has a herringbone weave.

The Blue Oxford shirt is the wrong type and is nothing like the material of the actual shirt in the show. The shirt in the show has more of a basket weave to it. I am afraid you have ordered a shirt far from the look of the one used.

Although it needs the distinct tab collar, the main reason i bought the shirt from ModernTailor was to try out the tab collar, and since it was only 20 dollars for the fabric, that still looks quite "Who-ey" i though i might as well get two for one.

From the real life pics I've seen, the color is too azure blue and it lacks the distinctive tab collar. A good find, not not perfect.

HaroldVonBraun, I started out with the blue oxford from Modertailor too! It's a great way to check on sizing before ordering a more expensive and more accurate fabric. Moderntailor has some excellent blue pinpoints that will work well for this shirt and you can get it custom tailored with the tab collar for the screen accurate look!

On an even differenter note, i'll be going to New York next week, where i'll be going to some flea markets, salvation army stores along with some of the big outlet centres, and i'll be looking around for Doctor who related items, i already printed out about 5 sheets of A4 with collages of various Fifth doctor related items :D

A little thread Resurrection here. I need more reference on two of these shirts. The Utah and the check. Mostly so I can see the pattern enough to replicate it for printing, but other details are great for when I actually build.
It seems like there was a thread at one time that had a lot of these images already, but I may have made that up.
    Anyone have any good links?

This might be a bit of a late post, but i'm lazy.
    Teensy review on ModernTailor.com shirt:
The color is certainly a light blue, although it's very shiny compared to the screen used on, and lacks the distinctive basket weave. One problem i had with the shirt is however that it's VERY large for me, so either i messed up the measurements or they ballsed it up, not sure :/. Another problem is my cuffs "messing up" and the threading around the buttonhole detearerating. As you can see in this thread: http://www.therpf.com/f24/my-doctor-who-related-items-bow-ties-145067/

So I've got a friend working on a tileable Jpeg of the windowpane shirt and the Utah shirt for print, and I need a little help from my fellow Whovians.
Anyone have a good idea of the scale on these prints? i.e. How big are the checks, how wide are the stripes? My guess is 1/4" check and 3/8" on the stripe, but that is just conjecture.

Chris, if you aren't in a hurry, I'm going to finish both S6 shirt patterns for Spoonflower tonight and I'll be uploading them in the very near future, just as soon as I finish a couple other designs. Hoping to have the samples ordered by the end of the week, so looking at probably 2-3 weeks before they can be purchased.

Update: They're done now, and I'm really happy with them. I just have to finish the pattern for Tom Baker's S12 shirt and a couple other patterns and I'll order my approval swatches.

Hmmm, won't it be difficult to replicate the herringbone weave of the window-pane shirt? And that pattern definitly seems to be woven on the real one.

It is woven, but since we can't weave our own fabric, this is the next best option. As for replicating the weave, I'm giving it a shot by printing shading. We'll see how it turns out. Both S6 shirts have a fabric texture and I've incorporated it into both of my prints.

Hmmm, looking through my reference image archive, i just noticed something curious. To me, it looks like he wears a different shirt on this image (Just very subtly different) than what he wears in the series.
Now, allow me to explain myself. Looking at the top shirt, there is very cleary 4 stripes (1 thin, 2 wide, 1 thin, in the same Lavender blue). And on the second shirt, it almost looks like two thing stripes are in a darker color, as the lavender blue can hardly be seen on the darker stripes, the wider stripes are also surrouned by a thin black stripe.
And another mystery, the reliefed diamond pattern in the wide area between the stripes. Personally i have NEVER seen that on any other pictures than this. Could i just be due to the unsharp quality of the cameras on Doctor Who, or could there be two different shirt fabrics used? What do you think?
To give a better idea of the difference between the fabrics, the top one looks mostly like the fabric used on pumpkiny's shirts. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lyHXx0EMPsE/Tt0DWqX2LZI/AAAAAAAAIWA/IOov3ArdH5k/s1600/IMG_5657.JPG

And the bottom fabrics looks like the one Risu based his Spoonflower pattern from, minus the reliefed diamond pattern. http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1192456

And another thing, sorry to say this, but am i the only one who thinks the collar on the pumpinky shirt is wrong, not only are the lapels WAYS too long, but the tab is also WAYS too loose.

The diamond pattern (or whatever that is, might be that stylized pattern that the boy scouts used for Weeblos, can't remember the name, or something similar) is definitely not on the Utah shirt. Interesting.

Hmm, you might be right, it does seem to resemble a fleur-de lis, but it could look like a lot of things at this resolution... Does anybody have a higher resolution version than the 600X400 version of the image that i have?

EDIT: Here is the Fleur-de lis, incase you're wondering.

Sorry to interrupt, but the question is rather, are those two shirts made from different fabrics?

They're the same fabric. I just had another look at the super hi res pic I've got of Smith on the car in Utah and the raised pattern is indeed there. I can't believe I missed that! Telling what it is is a whole other thing, though. Certain parts of it look like sunbursts, others look like lightning bolts. I doubt it's either.

E-Wan ordered some swatches and using some comparison photos he sent me with his tweed jacket, I've made one last revision to the two S6 shirt fabrics. The blue dashed lines on the check shirt are a slightly less purple hue and the lavender stripes on the striped shirt are much less saturated.

I'm about 95% finished with my Utah shirt from Risu's fabric print. Need buttons and the collar tab (which looks like it was installed after the shirt was made rather than sandwiched in the collar).
The lavender is a bit saturated on mine. I'm going to run it through the wash a few times to hopefully knock it down a bit.

Wow, looks amazing. Can't wait to see it finished with a bow-tie :D That might be THE most screen-accurate S6 shirt yet.

The collar might throw off a less experienced patternmaker. It's a bit on the tall side. It has a very vintage height to it.
