Doctor Who costume...

Guys, I've been real busy and haven't put my head round the door since before christmas, sooo, sorrry - I'm saying hello and a belated new year to you all (jeez, it's March tomorrow.)

Anyways - - David Tennant's costume as the 10th Doctor - I wondered if anyone in the UK (or anywhere for that matter.) has tracked down the same or very similar versions of the garments that make up the costume -
The long 'fawn/camel' coloured wool overcoat (or is it suede/moleskin?)
The chocolate pinstripe suit (the pinstripe, unusually is like an aqua or electric blue)
The tie - looks like a patterned bergundy tie of some sort, possibly gold stitching in it?
The trainers or 'sneakers' to you guys in the colonies :) Converse All Star, or at least a generic plimsol style basketball shoe (the type we called 'pumps' as kids in't north a' englund) so they're easy, especially as we've already seen photos of him wearing various colours...
Fortunately I already had the geek chic indie glasses he pulled out in the xmas invasion. ;) Anyone got any leads?

can't really help you with where to find stuff...but in my research for a custom figure...i found that the pinstripes are a very very pale sky blue and there are diamonds in the tie of the same shade...hope that helps at least a little....skott

Thanks guys - yeh, i knew the pinstripe was blue, which is making a suit like it hard to find. All the chocolate brown suits have a white or grey stripe that i can find...someone mentioned Ron might be on the ball - he did a mean 8th Doc, so I know he really does his home work...I read somewhere the long camel coloured coat was custom made yesterday...
Ron, you outthere buddy?

I read on the Dr Who prop board that the overcoat was made from some type material used on couches that was specifically dyed for that color. I don't know much about the person who stated it, so take it as you will.

G,

I just got your PM...I haven't researched too deeply into Tennant's outfit yet because I wanted to see if it was going to remain identical throughout the season or if it was going to change like they did with Pertwee and Tom Baker where it varied from story to story.

There's a little on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/n.../15/22977.shtml

Since you're in England and you're on the "good peeps list" for a few people with connections to Auntie Beeb you may be able to find some info directly from the source. You can also check the BBC's official website and see if any names are named in the behind the scenes stuff.

Per IMDb listing http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0562994/fullcredits
The costuming department is comprised of:
Louise Page http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0656261/
Lucinda Wright http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0942606/

According to their entries there is contact info for both ladies logged with IMDb but I'm not a member so I don't have access to it. Searching the web with their names came up with the following stuff that may be of service to you:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/n.../18/20631.shtml

I hope that helps steer you in the right direction. My McGann costume got some correcting tips from one of the assitants to the costume deisgner from the movie thanks to my emailing someone who worked for the company that built two of the sets. A chain of email conversations with three or four different people that started with that person ended with one of the costumers. Just chase it up, be polite and interested and above all intelligent and you'd be surprised where it lands you.

Good luck, GF, if I find out anything more myself I'll happily let you know.

---Waz aka Ron.
