Do it yourself Decals?

Does anyone know of any do it yourself decal kits / paper / machines (Walmart?) for making custom decals on a typical home computer and printer to be added to plastic models and or hard costumes. I know there are high end vinyl laser cut systems etc. for hundreds of dollars but thats not in the budget.

The decals could be laminated possibly to give vinyl like protection form weather / heat etc..? Or a spray coat to protect ink from running...?

Or is there a source online that a graphic could be sent to for

You can buy inkjet printable decal paper at office supply stores, after printing you spray it with a clear coat then use them like regular waterslide decals. You could also try that cricut home vinyl cutter the infomercials have been pushing the last few years.

Walmart used to carry 6x4 inch decal paper made by Testors in their modeling section a few years ago but I think they stopped carrying it. A good place to find decal paper at a decent price is at Micromark.com. As for sealing the ink, I have had good luck spraying a couple coats of clear automotive lacquer over the decal and letting it dry thoroughly.

Thank you - does the cricket system work with a computer and custom graphics? I'll check it out - again Thank you!

With third party software yes... Get a copy of 'Sure cuts a Lot' software and it will allow you to cut SVG files, as well as any font on your computer...

The results are not spectacular but for the price they are not bad...
