That black is the exact same as the white just died BUT the white is “processed” which means it’s technically more smoother.

The “detailed” plastic is the Smoothest. If ur not going to paint then the black will work just fine. If ur painting then use the “processed white” or “smooth detailed” or “smoothest detailed”. All will work just fine. It’s just more a matter of details is all. You can see a comparison in the thread..

Shipping works as u would think. Order everything at once and only pay one price. If u order individually then u will pay shipping each time. It’s a set price I believe.

    Hopefully this helps.

No grips will sub in naturally without major modifications. Even with these mods they still end up looking a little off. Wood is overrated compared to a good fit IMHO. So I would highly recommend just leaving them as is honestly.

chubsANDdoggers, Thanks for the information about the different plastics available on Shapeways. I think I'm going to order the black versatile plastic for the heat-sink grille - that way I don't have to worry about painting between the fins !!! I'll order the smoothest find detail plastics for the rest. Thanks for the clarification.

Also, thanks for answering my wooden grips question. I'll keep the AW Custom closer to the SOLO blaster and keep the plastic grips. But I did order some DEC wood grips for my Denix - I'll make that AHN faithful.

    Thanks

    Jedar

How's everyone attaching their mystery disk? It doesn't quite line up over the existing hole and I'd rather not just glue it on but maybe that's the only option?

This is the last part of my AWC DL-44 build, and on to the holster next. And all the @chubsANDdoggers parts have been great. Really won me over to Shapeways too.

Happy to hear you like the parts! You did an awesome job on that left side as well

I just use epoxy to attach it but first I cover in the hole with the same putty I used in post #217.. e86d7c94da0ca75b1acf11ddc0669fc0.jpg

But you could also attach it with a set screw by drilling a new hole to tap. I do this on TFA airsoft build when attaching its “mystery disk”. Only issue is that the holes might double line up and that might make it very difficult to do if you want this disk to sit where it should. But you can see how I attached TFA disk on post #7.. b5a7a583e1dcaa0b2b54878504356ac5.jpg

Epoxy though would be your best bet once you fill in the hole I believe. This is mine here (first pic is of film prop). I also repainted my build a matte black as well as that seems to closer to what he carried in the film? bf35385b3c9c0b281e80ded184b6ebde.jpg 3b23240e5bf5ea2145fcdf70259090f2.jpg 6212dfde51bd7c4f5bd6540f65f182c5.jpg 59cf595e4d9b2311daf59760c8e1c016.jpg 5813e9251f48bcac7c5aa891c447ad11.jpg

Thanks - I tried filling the hole and then re-drilling but it was too close and I couldn't get a new hole in. Looks like it'll be the epoxy for me.

Much thanks thd9791 ! I cut it specifically to where the scope would come to a rest. Here is a great behind pic of that same part on the actual film prop if it’s helpful 203f2e21e20672b1a22c94618abce3a5.jpg

thd9791 ya it’s more straight across but it does have a dip in the middle to make room for the belly of the scope similar to this.

Hey - quick question, when mounting a bracket to an MGC, how did you tap the rear screw? seems like, for the hammer to still be moveable, you have barely any material to tap?

Not to worry as there is more than enough metal to make the hold. The hammer (and safety) will work just fine.

Speaking of MGC's, do your ESB flash hiders fit the barrel of an MGC or are they designed to fit Denix barrels?

I remember posting about this a few years ago. they REALLY didn't care, like we do, disassembling the parts to paint them. If you think about it, they just kept re-using casts of Han's ANH blaster with a different scope instead of casting the new ESB blasters.
