I was commissioned to make the spell book from Hocus Pocus for an upcoming Halloweeen event that has the Sanderson sisters. I wanted to make it as quick and easy as possible so I used a pre-made book box from Hobby Lobby. The eye was one of many from a bag from the Dollar Tree. All the silver pieces including the two snake book spine ends, four coiled snakes, eye lock and back hand were sculpted in air dry clay, molded and then cast in resin. I then painted them black and finished with silver rub n buff wax. The whole book was covered in tissue paper and paper towel with mod podge. The skin seams were created with hot glue. I drilled holes around the seams and used hemp twine for the stitches. The spine fingers were created with EVA foam dowels and acrylic finger nails from the dollar store.
