Distortions Life Size Queen

Originally created by Stan Winston Studio, this life sized Queen Alien was manufactured by Distortions Unlimited in the 1990's. It was fabricated from the original movie molds and is fully licensed by 20th Century Fox Corporation. I purchased it in 2008 and have since added the Bruce Hansing face. It originally stood 16 feet tall, but I paid a talented San Diego welder to modify it's stance into what you see now. Other than the face and new stance, it is in original unpainted condition. The two little arms that attach to the chest and the six spines or fins that protrude from it's back will be added later, but can be seen below.

Instead of using the body as a pin cushion, I have worked out alternative mechanisms for attaching the six spines on her back, and the two small arms in front. This is the main cause of damage over the years to the Distortion queens. Luckily this one was protected from most of that kind of damage. I believe it is a complete queen - all six spines, tail, two legs, four arms and crown.

Still a work in progress.

Thanks Iggy.

Me too, but there is something wicked about the closed mouth version that makes me take a second look.

Here are pics of the Distortions crown and Hansing face atop the Queen torso for the first time. There are some adjustments to do, but I thought I would take some pics in it's current state. While I still intend to use the Hansing crown, until it is ready, this Distortions crown looks pretty good to me. The neck area is open for now to allow for the temporary stand. Soon it will be suspended from hooks behind the arms and the neck will be closed via Velcro, a zipper, or something else. All the Distortions body parts including the torso and crown are in original unpainted condition since 2008 when I purchased it.

A few more adjustments and the body will be raised to correct height with crown and face attached. At that point, the legs are locked in place.

I agree Clutch.

Once it is raised and the legs are attached, I think it should look pretty natural in it's stance. Perhaps walking bent over through the refinery corridors, hunting for Ripley or some Colonial Marines.

Here are some pics of the Distortions crown.

Here is the shop in San Diego where a very talented welder modified the stance of the Distortions Queen back in 2008.

Hi Catzenjaeger,

Final install?

That project has just begun. So much left to do with that piece. Could keep me busy for years to come. Molds to make an experimental copy, casting material options, animatronics, internal skeletal options.

There are some Queen related pics and a new Queen related acquisition to share, but not yet.

In the meantime, there is this -
