Disney doesn't know the name's of the Star Wars films, apparently

That's pretty cool. Honestly I kind of like the idea of a simple, yet elegant boxed set without the busy (and in my opinion lazy) photshop art. Often they come across as just so bad. No composition, just washed out images of random characters placed in random areas trying to mimic the far superior poster art painted by real artists.

How cool would it be to see a big black box with fancy roman numerals 1-9 sitting on your shelf knowing it's the Star Wars Saga? It would look so refined!
The closest to that was a VHS set called The Executor box. I really liked the simple yet elegant representation of each movie.

Not using the numbered episodes as part of the title isn't new.

The OT as stated here wasn't marketed with Episode title till TPM was released. Any material before hand simply had Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi on all releases and marketing material despite ANH with the added Episode title in the crawl.

If anything this is going retro aside from the crappy photoshopped collages.

When I was a kid I used to stare at the VHS box art (CBS/Fox set) and get lost in it. I can't picture anyone doing that with these.
I used to do the same. Though personally, Yoda against the matte black background always kinda creeped me out.

The last BD release didn't have episode numbers either

Why so many villain characters? Do villains really sell better?

Look what I came across randomly this morning.

You mean the mid 90's THX set? I was talking about the earlier set with the movie poster covers. And yes Yoda is creepy looking on that set haha.
