digitigrade legs

Hi,
I just wanted to followup with my 9 year old's halloween costume (currently zero votes in the kids 2014 Gallery--shameless plug--please vote--not just mine but there are some really great costumes there)

The Halo elite has digitigrade legs, and I think it was well worth the effort. To see my son wearing the costume and him walking seems surreal. The 4th graders were all trying to figure out how he was bending his legs like that!

So the teacher had some rules...the kids had to get dressed by themselves in 10 minutes...no help. So I decided to make the "pants" all one unit. In the past I had my son had simply strapp all the pieces of the armor on with velcro strips but that was too difficult this time with the pumped out-digitgrade legs, he couldn't even reach behind his shin!

I sewed on eva pieces to the pants after they were stuffed, and hot glued to those pieces....fabric glue never seems to hold well.
I went to many "furry" sites and saw those tutorials. The stiffness of the foam was an experiment...I got some chair padding but it seemed to flimsy, so I made a sandwich of soft foam/pink rigid insulation board/soft foam and cut to shape.

I will try to follow up with more pictures on my actual page:
