Diet

i know I post some crazy stuff on this site but it serves a purpose...anywho, what's your opinion on the Yuatja diet?... I think they might be more vegetarian... Now I can see them eating meat but if u think about it a vegetarian diet seems legit... Some of the most powerful animals on earth are vegetarians (guerillas, elephants)...now I know in P2 they said he was eating beef but thier mouth n teeth seem to be a mouth fit for breaking fruit and nuts... They have sharp front teeth and mandibles but no back teeth at all for chewing... What's your opinions

pure carnivores. tear it with mandibles and eat it...
1 of the predator comics even shows 1 pred picking up a muskrat, and just tear it apart and swallowing it.

The name gives it away. Predator. A Predator Hunt's it's prey. I feel sorry for the amounts of berries he might hunt just to get a good enough meal. Now, a Predator must strategically think of what he can or cannot eat on his hunt. We don't know much about the predator immune system however, if I compared it to a human then it would probably suffer from a bad case of diahorea if he indulged in berries and fruit or a vegetarian diet for that matter. I would say his meal is primarily meat as it's for growth repair the fat within the meat would aid in predators surviving in harsher conditions for example Scar. He was the more bulkier predator who had fat and muscle.

In Predator 2 they specifically try to capture him because he had been feeding on beef in the warehouse. Glovers character even blurts out, "Well, I didn't think he was a vegetarian." Nuff said.

It wouldn't have to be berries we don't know what kind of produce is grown on their home planet it could be melons n ****... But yea they are called predators but u never see them eat the prey

But I was also thinking more of fish like creatures... Again no back teeth for chewing

As far as I know they are reptiles. Most reptiles are either omnivores or carnivores, rather few herbivores. And their teeth look nothing like teeth used for berries etc that would be molars. Also the fact of not having any molars, suggests that they consume meat, due to it being an evolution of holding onto the prey, and most likely consuming it whole, or tearing pieces out of it. And Crocodiles are rather strong themselves, and are carnivores ;) so strength isn't a good indicator of diet

That's a good point with the crocodile I thought the same... But no not berries I don't think I said berries but everybody keeps saying stuff about berries lol now I'm sure they are capable of eating berries I was thinking it would be used to crack hard fruit such as coconut or melons... Now with that being said u don't know what vegetation grows on the home planet but however I never banked on a vegan diet just saying it could make sense now I'd bet they where omnivores considering the space travel and having to adapt to different diets on different planets

It would take a tremendous amount of protein to fuel such powerful beings....I'm going to say they are mostly carnivorous, but there is really no reason why fruits and veggies wouldn't be in their diet as well. I think that the yautja could also enjoy diversity in their meals, they are an highly intelligent species and probably cook too. They could also use spices, the options are unlimited because they travel the galaxies and have the opportunity to find new and exotic things!

I believe they were designed to be purely carnivorous. If they were vegetarian or even omnivores, they would need molars to crush and breakup tough material. It's all in the teeth my friends. All sharp and no flat speaks carnivorous.

What I REALLY want to know is if Predators somtimes eat humans. I know City Pred dined on Mr. McMoomoos, but did Jungleman munch a bit on Arnold's buddies? LOL

^ This! Even though I don't think jungle Hunter sneaked a bite while Hunting Arnolds buddies lol.

........bummer. It would be funny if in the next movie (if they had Arnold in it) that one of the predators growled hauntingly,

"Dutch.......... I ATE your buddies"......:D

Nah..... it was Jungle Pred's drunken buddy from the first movie. His name is Sloshy, and he was waisted by the time they made it down to the planet. Jungle figured that Slosh would just make a mess of things and ruin a good hunt by giving up their location, so he had him sleep it off in the tree were the soldiers were hanging. When Shoshy finally woke up, he had the munchies, but was disappointed to see that all the fermenting meat was gone. He started walking around to get his bearings and came across Jungle's hunting "leftovers". He was happily crunching away when he heard the boom, and saw the chopper flying away. He was going to shoot it down, but he was still suffering from a bit of a hangover and knew his aim would be off, so he just had his bio take a reading of Dutch's features and figured he'd hunt him down later.
