Got my Viper last night. It's a decent statue. it's not super accurate by any means but it's good for desk art.
I had to take a sanding/brillo pad to the airbrush weathering. It was just a bunch of black blobs on my statue. Looked like frakking hell. After moderate sanding the Viper has a really cool streaky look like the real one does.
The white paint is really durable and actually took a little shine after I sanded it.
My impression went from "Oh hell no" before sanding, to "damn, this thing looks cool" after the sanding.
The cockpit detail is really nice. I have to find an F18 kit for the joystick and a F16 kit for the throttle control. There are little holes where they should be. Maybe they were thinking of adding them?
One of the things that bugs me is the canopy. You can't see it in the photos but the side glass is super cut-in compared to how it should be. It's almost vertical instead of at an angle from the edge. Looks like an "L" if you view it from the front. Hard to explain... I'll get some photos up later. I'll scratch up a better canopy later. (Oh, btw the clear resin sucks, it is brittle as hell. Snapped off one of the tabs on the canopy trying to get it on the first time. frak!)
Packaging is fantastic. They put a lot of care into packing it safe. They even went as far as embossing "Battlestar Galactica" text on the top of the Styrofoam carrier.
Over all I'd give it :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup 1/2 out of five. For the $100 bucks I paid for this it will look great sitting on a shelf.
