First, the description "1973 Timex" isn't particularly helpful. Timex might not have been the most prolific watchmaker around, but I do know thay had more than one model in 1973.

Second, click on the link Pitbull provided, then click on the link on that page under "Submitted by" (just above the first photo), and you'll see there is still room for discussion.

That is a 1973 Quartz. If it was Silver with no date display I think that is it. The body and ring around the glass look very close to me.

It looks like the same case, gold plated instead of silver plated, but the dial is wrong--aside from the day and date window, the numerical indicators and hands are different as well.

I still think the 1971 Timex Electric is a closer match (it's the same watch in both photos):

The band in the photo on the left is clearly wrong, but the case is the same shape, it has the bevel around the crystal, the dial is a closer match and, as you can see, the dial itself photographs as white, silver, or yellowish/pale gold depeding on lighting, the same as the one on the show. And, btw, Dexter might have been born in '73, but Michael C. Hall was born in '71. :D

Wow excellet work Zombie. I think you're right, everything looks the same. Just checked eBay and Google, can't find one. Have you had any luck getting one?

Maybe it's just me, but neither of those watches look correct. Dexter's watch has a larger gap between the watch face and the band. Also, the shape where the band attaches does not look correct either.

The original pic I started with is a 1971 electric... I don't think its the correct watch. The red is what my eyes are seeing.

DarkPassenger, I'm guessing you had no luck with your contact id'ing the watch?

This 1968 Constellation has more of the shape that I'm seeing, but the hour markers seem too long, the winding knob looks too tall, and there is that damn date display. Although, most vintage Cosntellations have longer and skinnier hour markers.

But then again, I'd really rather have it be an Omega over a Timex.

The hour markers on the IWC don't look right, and it doesn't look like the 12 o'clock marker on Dexter's is any different than the other markers, whereas the IWC 12 o'clock is more pronounced than the rest.

They are both photos of the same watch, not two different watches.

When we were posting in the "Dexter costume" thread last April I watched every episode from the first three seasons specifically looking for good shots of the watch, and the dimensions of the lugs (where the watch band attaches) seemed to change from one shot to the next. The geometry/shape of the case and lack of clear "up close" views of the actual watch make it more difficult to determine; the angled surfaces and chrome plating reflect light differently, enhancing and exaggerating the dimensions from certain angles. I'm no expert but, taking everything into consideration, the '71 Timex was the closest match I found. What we really need is someone who has some expertise in 70s era watches that would be able to determine at a glance which watch it is (or, of course, someone from the production who actually knows which watch it is).

This may or may not be helpful. I found a larger version of this promotional photo from Season 2...

...from which I was able to get this...

...which is one of the clearest "still photograph" shots I've seen of the actual watch (one of them, anyway). As you can see, any branding/logos on the dial are minimal, which makes things that much more difficult for us.

That is definitely the best shot of the watch I seen. I wish I knew you watched all through every season looking for the watch, that is what I have been doing the past week. I am on "Hungry Man" now.

This is really hard to ID. It's probably not even a Timex. A lot of Dexter's stuff is designer and expensive. It is probably an expensive watch. Maybe even a combo of different watches. Could be a different case, dial, and band combo. Who knows?

They did alter rolls of plastic like posted above.
