dexter watch

My advice is just wait till you can find one recently serviced (which is normally a $100 cost) in good condition for $200, or a non serviced one for a bill.

Okey, I will keep my eyes peeled :)
Good to actually get a decent number of value. 200$ sound very reasonable. Maby even 400$ bur over that seems a little to much.. maby:)

Thanks guys!

Annanake, what do you mean? You can get the same watch, just a different year, for $25? Every watch that has the right face has sold for $200+ that I can see.

if it has the right face it is not a year off it is the correct watch . you can buy a similar Waltham for 25 bucks meaning the reason the Dexter watch is so expensive is because it is the Dexter watch and not because Waltham is worth a ton of money . so its value is derived from the show not the item itself unlike lets say if he wore a Rolex.

plus due to the fact it took years of people trying to figure out the watch and then only really was known when someone off the props department confirmed what it is ( I remember everything I looked up on the watch for a while everyone insisted it was a Timex) so what I mean is you can buy a Waltham for 25 bucks that is very similar to Dexter's watch and be a lot happier than the bunch of people walking around with a Timex claiming Dexter's watch. or like Rbeato said (via Larry David ) " you wait". and then pay 200 if you get lucky

This is a very good point. I have an automatic Orient watch, and I love it. Keeps pretty good time, tends to lose about 10 seconds a day. Does your Waltham keep decent time? If I can get the Waltham (one in need of repair) for less than $100, I'll probably put about $200 into a complete restoration. I don't want to put $300 into a watch if the time won't keep! :D

Thanks for the response, by the way.

the not Dexter Waltham I have seems to keeps pretty decent time and has not had any work done in quite a while . I haven't attempted to gauge how much time it loses so cant really say I don't wear watches much they tend to sit and collect dust another reason I personally don't want to spend to much on a Dexter watch .

Yeah, I think if I can't find one in the next couple of weeks for a decent price I might just get a similar model. But, I'm super particular, so not having the exact watch is going to drive me crazy!

totally understand . Im a weapons man so I even collected the mundial future knifes that were barely seen like the 8 inch carving knife. Dexter had it his trunk in season one next to the bread knife and then it was one of the knifes in the roll he set up Doakes with so it was cool to see a reason for it to disappear and a reason for me to have it lol.

Yeah, that's awesome. I'm really getting into this prop collecting stuff. I was a huge fan of the Fallout video games and made my own glowing Nuka Cola Quantum one night. It was an awesome feeling!

I just finished season 7 of Dexter. Holy crap was that intense!

Hey, sorry to keep posting, but has anyone, by chance, figured out the serial number for the Waltham watch? That could potentially help me find one tremendously. I've looked through 5000+ listings and haven't had any luck.

Thanks!

Darn. That's alright. Where all would you recommend looking? I've been checking eBay, Etsy, and posting to some forums (obviously). Are there any other good websites that you, or anyone you know of, have had luck with?

Thanks!

Hey guys, I just got a gold Waltham Dexter watch in perfect working order (recently serviced and all!) for a surprisingly low $130! I have a few questions - who is the best to send this to to have it replated, and also, does anyone have a serial number or link to the exact band that is on Dex's watch? Also, is 17mm the lug width on this watch? If so, I need a band that is like 16-20mm right? The 18-22mm bands would not fit a 17mm watch. I'm searching, and I have found many that look similar, but I don't want to get the wrong one. I've been reading through the older pages on this thread, and all of the links that were posted are dead now.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
