dexter watch

Damn!
More expenceve, than i've expected. Well, anyway i'll kep them in mind, and i'll ask few acquintances in NY, to search for them in some "garbage" stores.
Anyway thanks for help!
I'm not such a fan, not wearing all stuff that Dex did, i'm just love military dresscode, wear 5.11 and Blackhawk apparel and Dexter is one of our favorite series. So i though his watches is good thing to get! :)

I just won an auction for this watch a few weeks back and paid a bit over 400 for it. I really didn't want to pay that price, but being I'm not seeing them as much as I'd like I thought it a good idea to grab one while I can. I now have both the gold and stainless. And yes, the stainless is indeed a very nice looking watch which I've been wearing quitye often since it arrived. :) I also found what looks to be the correct band as well. I've been considering haveing it cleaned and serviced but I'm not sure if the benifits out weight the risks

Definitely need to get it cleaned if you plan on wearing it, you figure these watches are roughly 40 somethin years old and the movements need to be serviced and oiled from time to time. A $70 servicing is well worth it to give it a long life.

Got myself a watch stand that I spattered. Makes for a cool way to display it.

I only have one now. Sold the other and the one I have is near mint condition, don't think I'd ever part with it unless I was offered a good some.

Ah, bummer for me! I must ask... what is your great some for the watch?
Understand if you dont want to part with this great watch. Maby you know of someone who may want to sell?

How hard is it to come by a dexter watch nowadays? Heard of one who soon will be selling one for 1000$ after a overhaul. A little steep isn't it?

yea $1000 is ridiculous. the most i've ever seen one sell for was $800 and that was a lot imho. $400-500 maybe for a very very nice one.
they come up a few times a year it seems, some that need some serious help and others that are very nice (ie: the one that just sold on ebay)

For me 400-500 is still high, but if it's a prop that's really important to a collection I can understand paying that price. Personally I love watches, so I can't justify paying more than 200 bucks for a Waltham, just because you can get a Omega or Rolex for 500-1000 dollars.

My guess is it's the same thing that happened once camera collectors figured out a bunch of movie fans wanted their Graflex 3-Cell flash handles to turn them into lightsabers. "Oh, Dexter fans want this watch? Okay then, the price just doubled."

Yeah..Its really sad how greedu people get. I will never pay 1000$ for a waltham, it will be coming up on Etsy soon. I saw the one on ebay but someone took the buy it now so it slipped out of my hands...;-(

especially when you can buy the same watch a year off one way or the other for $25 bucks any day of the week , but the price would not go so crazy if people were not willing to pay it I guess.
