dexter watch

I just got a bit of interesting information regarding the watch.

My watch has been in for warranty repair work since mid January. I got it back about 2 weeks ago, finally, and within 2 days it was having the same issues that I originally brought it in for. To make a long story shorter, the jeweler sent it to their "go-to guy" (he actually works out of his house, not some big company) who re-did EVERYTHING and also found out some interesting information...

Apparently my watch is a knockoff from the early 70's. I would guess that is the reason we've seen them with flat (knockoff?) and pointed hour/minute hands. This is just speculation on my part though. The good news is that he said the movement inside actually is all swiss, so it will still keep excellent time. And bonus for me I can pick it up tomorrow. LOL

So, if anyone else is still looking, beware of the possibility of it being a knockoff.

That's my theory at the moment. Didn't know Waltham was desirable enough to have knockoffs made 40 years ago.

Mine has pointed hands as well. I wouldn't imagine that anyone from that time period would want to fake a Waltham but who knows.

My 2 both have pointed hands. The one on the right does not have the right band yet as I'm searching for it. After watching season 6 I have realized its no longer the same band we all got before. Its the same looking band but a wider version of it. I've seen them for sale but not lately. You can really tell the band is wider in the last season. And one rare thing about my watch I wear daily is the glow markers are not up against the the silver circles for the numbers. the are more in the center. I could careless about them as they aren't that noticeable. I just got it so i'd have one to wear and one to display. I love these watches.

Another thing I'm noticing is the placement of the words on the face.

In DP's pic, the "Waltham" is centered higher up than on mine. Both have the flat hands as well.

what do all yours say on the back? and does the crown have a W on them? I've seen many that don't. Either way atleast they have swiss movements. Thats always a good thing.

mine says in arched letters "ALL STAINLESS STEEL CASE" then below that it says "WALTHAM AUTOMATIC". Mine also has the W on the crown.

I wonder what is happening to all of the watch bands on the show that they keep having to replace them all the time.

Here's the back of mine. The crown also had a cursive-ish "W" on it, but was replaced due to pealing plating. I still have it somewhere.

both of mine say automatic on the back with a non curvish W on the crown as well. same with the gold one i had re-plated last year.
still strange to think that knock offs of these particular watches were made. Wonder if they were just made in different years hence the differences.

I'm interested Starkiller, but I live in the UK, I have sent you a PM, let me know if you are interested.

Or anyone else who may be selling one, I would really like to get hold of one of these watches.

Thanks

There is a silver one on ebay right now as well as a gold one that could be plated silver.

This is NOT a sales thread, so please do not talk about a watch that you are thinking of selling. If you want to buy or sell something, keep it in the Junkyard were it belongs. Also, please do not post ebay links. Thanks.

Greetings from Europe, Dexter fans!
Now i have a new item in my wish list - those Walthams.
Is it possible to get those at all?
Maybe someone can help me in that quest? I doubt, that i'll find them on eBay...
If someone have some offers - PM me, please!

I have never noticed Dexter watch before, intresting. Most likely because I never did a dexter costume yet. Now I want one.

They do still pop up on ebay from time to time. Keep waltham 25 in your saved searches. Prepare for a $300+ price tag, usually more like $400.

(Breaks my heart to see Thibault was banned...)
