Designing dye-sub suits: help needed.

So, I've purchased some generic muscle patterns, and I'm pretty proficient at Photoshop Fu, so at first I was having very little trouble in putting the costume design together. The torso is perfect, I'm happy, and then I move on to the back/hands/legs and...

It all falls apart because, for the life of me, I can't think of a way to make everything line up perfectly. Is there a secret step I'm messing? Is there some 3D software that folds the unfolded template into a model people mess with-- or does my brain just not think in disjointed straight lines?

I'd love tips and advice. I've printed out the basic pattern on regular printer paper sized down and folded it together, to try to visualize it in 3D, and then use that information to inform the modeling on the screen... but it just isn't working. It might be a problem with my ability to conceptualize and visualize and this is stupidly easy to other people. I have no idea.

So, yes. Help?

Hi Kix.

In photoshop there is a Measure tool, it is located on the left under the Eyedropper tool. to make sure the areas line up the key is know where the parts connect the measuring from the same points. is this the issues you are having ?

Another way is to rearrange the pieces to line up , then design and then put back together to stay with in the 58" range

below are some pictures i crudely put together from work. Rami Pattern 001.JPGRami Pattern 002.JPGRami Pattern 003.JPG

Thanks, I'll take a look at that!

I actually bought your muscle patterns, so it's great to have your input.
