Denix with Wood Grips-Reference pics (Perhaps a WIP on MV's ESB DL-44 V2.0!)

Hey there RPF! I just ordered a Denix with wood grips for my next blaster build (I know, what's with my DL-44 fetish? :p ). It'lll be an ESB, so a return to my roots, as it were. This time, though, since I have a job (meaning reliable income!) I wanted to improve upon my previous ESB build in every and any way I could. Of course, I would love to build it on an MGC, and as soon as one pops up again on here, or gunbroker, or eBay, or...*anywhere*, I'll do my best to have the cash ready to snap it up. So for now, I decided to build it on a Denix with wood grips, which I will mod a bit to improve accuracy. I figured I could file down the firing pin, grind off the Denix logo/diamond, and perhaps cut away a little mock detail on the bottom of the mag well, like I saw Lichtbringer do on one of his builds. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the wood grips. It's such a great improvement on the crappy, dark plastic ones on the regular Denixes I've worked with before, and for me at least, the biggest tell-tale sign of a Denix from far away. I also happened to just get an iPhone, and I am LOVING its camera. It's like night and day between it and my old piece O' crap 1.3 MP phone camera! So I decided to have a crack at documenting another WIP, since my pics will be much better this time. So here's the Denix as-is (minus lanyard ring, and several layers of grease)

For the rest of the blaster, I plan on picking up a Blast-Tech scope mount (maybe second-hand, though....John and I didn't leave on the best of terms after the 6 week delay on my last order from him, after he said it had shipped... :/ But I'm willing to try him again), the side greeblies and pistons from Vince, one of Scottjua's mount knobs (PERFECT addition to an accurate ESB, Scott- thanks for offering those!) and, for now, a resin M19. Although, of course, I will keep my eyes peeled for a vintage one. I've never owned a 100% vintage prop, so I would love to make this ESB using all-original parts, eventually. In the meantime, I'd like to source a cold-cast brass/resin M19. I remember seeing one on eBay, and that the seller was a member here ( I want to say Striker?). As for the flash hider, I could always do an Evolution Props ESB, but those flash hiders are always a pain to fit onto a Denix. I either have to drill the heck out of the inner bore of the hider (with a handheld electric drill), or grind the Denix barrel down, or both. It's usually a half-day project for me, because I have limited tools and work space, being in an apartment. Anyone know a flash hider that's easier to affix to the barrel? I like to just grind the sight down and epoxy the FH on with the barrel almost at the tip, because 1.) it's easiest, and 2.) that's how it was on at least one hero, IIRC. I know BobaDebt's FH's are/were a dream to work with, but you had to cut the barrel down. At this point, I'd prefer a BD to an EP, but they aren't exactly a dime a dozen anymore. Anywhoo, expect to see me update this thread slowly but surely as I'm able to order parts. Hopefully this build will be as clean/accurate as I hoped my first attempt would be! :p

P.S., thanks Scottjua, Lichtbringer, and OdiWan for keeping my love of SW blasters alive and encouraging me on my previous attempts. You guys made the decision to keep building even easier!

I will be watching this!
I'm also building a ESB DL44 and i also use the Denix with wood grips. My scope is from doopydoos and i installed a soundmodul and s laser in the barrel

Its nearly finished but still waiting for my blast-tech order to arrive )-:

BTW... that diamond logo is not a Denix logo
It's a German BKA stamp, Bundeskriminalamt or federal criminal police office. Without this stamp the Denix is illegal in germany

Nice dude! Good job on installing electronics. Denix's are insanely hard to do that with. People usually have to settle for an airsoft Mauser to install sound and/or lights into. And yeah, I hear ya on the Blast-Tech wait... :/

Also, thanks for the info on the diamond! Never knew that. That makes a lot of sense, though!

I got an email from Blast-Tech and he said that he only had piston greeblies and a solo scoup mount in stock... What did you order if I may ask? Curious, as I was also looking for Luke blaster parts.

Sorry for not updating this thread in a while, this project has been put on a temporary hold....but I'm actually gonna pick it back up starting next week. But, I may have some good news, Nemesis and Shane. I am planning on buying the Revell kit from Scottjua on the 8th, if he still has it by then, and he says there are bunches of pistons. Once I get it, I could totally sell you guys a pair or two, if you wanted. You would have them the same week I get them. And, since John and I didn't leave on the best terms after there was a 6 week delay in the shipping of the scope mount I last purchased from him, and the tracking info saying he dropped it off at the P.O. A couple weeks after he assured me it has shipped... So I was gonna buy a 90 degree bracket from McMaster Carr and cut my own bracket with a dremel. If it turns out my bracket doesn't look too bad, I could make you guys some and send you them with the pistons or something. You have to buy a minimum of a foot of material, so I'll have leftover from mine.
