Denix DL-44 conversion

I've got two Denix's that have been in my parts box for a couple of years now, I snapped them up when the UK gun laws were changing. It's now illegal to buy replicas here but strangely you can still by Deact's!

Anyway I bought them for conversion to Hans favourite sidearm. I originally planned on doing an Ep.IV and a Ep.V. using Blast-tech/Yodashouse Kits.

I know these have been surpassed in terms of accuracy so am looking for resources for metal replica parts for both models.

I've already got replacement wooden grips for both and stripped one denix down and started the usual process of removing the pin heads and text etc.

Please share any parts resources or construction tips and I'd love to see pictures of yours. :thumbsup

It's also illegal to manufacture Realistic Imitation Firearms.
There's probably several threads ranting about it here already and debating whether our "space guns" are considered realistic... so I won't take up any more space.

However, De-Acts are real guns, not replicas, so there is a distinction.
I plan on taking advantage of this fact one day ;)

Best of luck with the project!

Yeah me too.
I found a source for deactivated Sterlings, £375 including delivery the website (Saracen Exports) showed two left in stock, I enquired about them but I'd missed out by a few days and the page had'nt been updated yet. :cry

I'm determined to pick one up before they decide to change the law again!

Now that you have over 22 posts, just post a jy thread.
Good luck man, witch versions are you planing on?
Greedo killer? Bespin, Hoth?

Here's a link to BobaDebt's Denix preparation tutorial.

Here are some pics of my alternate ANH DL-44/Greedo Killer which I recently completed. The scope mount and grill are Bobadebt's. The scope is a resin Compac Super copy from Adamata and the flash hider is the real deal.

Good luck on your build! :)

That looks great.
I've already got one prepped and modded for wooden grips, just need to start collecting parts, I think I'm going to do the EP.IV hero first.

Your GK looks awesome!

I am doing the same prop with the real fash hider. What can be used to shim the space between the barrel and the inside of the flash hider. :confused

Impressive.

Any advice on where to source parts? I'm in the uk.
I managed an sterling/E11 conversion with reasonable ease
Sourced fairly accurate parts eagle hengstler,m38 scope etc.
DL44 is next but Ive struggled to track down anything so far.
Apart from a couple of real Mausers - rather expensive :)
Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Avidd - how's your German? There are several German sites that sell the Denix Mausers, if that's what you're looking for. They usually go for around £60. Do a search for "Dekowaffe" and you are bound to find some vendors.

My pet peeve when it comes to Denix Mauser conversions is that fugly hammer. It just looks so wrong and, well, un-Mauser-like. I usually reshape the top with a Dremel just to get it a little nicer...

The Denix is no wonder of accuracy - we all know that. However, that little reshape does improve the general outlook IMO.

Thanks for that. My Germans probably up to it.
Although On further Reading it's now
illegal to purchase a denix but legal to buy
a deactivated c96? The logic escapes me. . .

Nice work on the hammer.
