Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Thanks guy's DA and Stealth I'll try and get something new done this coming week, work is killing me right now. Should have stayed on the path and focused instead of off playing with stuff that doesn't matter yet at this point in the build. :$

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

It's all work if you don't get side tracked now and then, now wheres the fun in that?.

Know the work killing ya thing. Sometimes It's a nice break to switch gears and work on something that will be used later in the build. View it as less work that ya have to do later:lol

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Yeah but one problem when you switch gears and things are incomplete you may never return to the project and then it's never going to get done I have tons of unfinished works so I know first hand when you lose interest in the project and move on you might aswell called it quits but I like the idea of building a new part you didn't work on yet maybe be the right answer to up the interest back in the project or reworking a old part you weren't happy with before can help too if you can stand back and say hell yeah and be proud of the upgrade might be kicking up the interest.

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

I've seen a lot of Iron Man threads lately ( I guess it's because the second movie IMHO ), but yours is definitely top notch. Amazing work ! Hope you'll finish it ! :)

so true. you lose the momentum. It happend to me last year on my first project.

but in some cases, if you really want it. you'll eventually get to it and finish.

some are just more motivated than others and that goes without saying :)

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Exactly. Sometimes, to get the motivation back, you just have to work only a bit again. Like forcing yourself to eat only a spoonful to get your appetite back.
If you don't do that, you'll be building this into your head, and then get the feeling that you've already done it... before actually completing it.

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

One thing not mentioned is burn-out. Taking on a full suit of armour is not a small task by any means. I have faced it more than once.

I find one of the things that I finally learned to use to help get me through the hard parts is Project Management. Bringing this over from the IT sector where I work, helps to create a realistic timeline and keep it all straight in my head where I am at in the project and what the dependancies are.

Using this methodology allows for intra-project jump-around and gives the ability to track it and keep everything flowing on track and on time.
Trying to just "wing it", I can totally understand why this would lead to discouragement.

You really don't totally need something like MS-Project <torrent?:love>, you can also whiteboard it all out and cross items off as you go... just maybe take the time to highlight the milestones needed to make it to the next phase(s). This just isn't as reportable

Hope this helps in some small way.

Cheers,

I understand completely! I started my IM project more than 2 years ago and I finished it in february 2010. I had like almost 12 months of "nothing" in between. Not being a job, it's difficult sometimes to stick with it and keep going. So many things in life get in the way and propping is usually the last of the priorities.

Having peers that like what you do and keep encouraging you to keep going is something sometimes you don't find in real life, so that's why communities like this are so important ;)

Yours is a great suit, I think one of the best ever I've seen.
I know you're busy doing something you promised to members on this board (helmets and pods), but you can just get over with that, take a little rest from pepping and get back on track!

Usually I need to waste some money playing online poker to get back on track. Since I never win any money on that thing, I usually think: "Ok, let me get back to the stuff I know how to do"...that's how the mark VI came to life ahhahaha :D

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Just keep at it, lol I think everyone in the prop community has ADD. I have so many Wip's its not even funny. and to top it all of, also an ironman helmet lol. Awesome work Finhead!!!!!!!

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Wow you guys kinda too that the wrong way I think. :lol
I was just saying I should have stayed focused on getting the armor completed and no been working on adding servos or doing parts for other people. Need to get back on my build for me. ;)
No intention of letting it not get finished and not burnt out at all on this. I restore cars/trucks for a living, that takes way more patients, this is a breeze by comparison. :cool

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Is it bad if I think about Pac-Man with the video? :lol

Man you guys and your Iron Man projects....they just keep getting cooler!

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Take time for yourself. If you don't work on your own projects, you'll go insane and never get it done.
I love your work.(y)thumbsup

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

Yes in deed I will be finishing this, just have to get a few more of these out of the way then I'm back on it. I'll make sure and update as soon as there's anything to update one. :)

Re: Iron Man WIP - Flip Faceplate/chin vid page 11

I'd still love to see what this is all about...every time I hit the thread, the pics/videos are all dead due to bandwidth issues.

Is anyone else having an issue with the pictures loading?? I don't have any kind of error or bandwidth issue s far as i know. The vids are gone but the pics should be up and working fine.
