Been working on two practice helmets.
Nothing special about them (and not as good as what Keith does) but I've tried experimenting different paint technics on them.
The first one is almost finished, it's an ABS helmet TE with styrene ear caps, leftovers from another helmet .
First thing I did was to apply the decals (from Jeesycreesy) on the raw ABS and applied liquid mask on them.
I completely hand painted the helmet using gloss white dulux paint (acrylic) directly on the raw ABS
(I didn't use any primer). ( humbrol enamels for the details)
I applied several very thin coats of white paint with a very good brush.
Using my fingernail I scratched the paint in a few spots, to get a minor chipped/ weathered effect and painted the kahki HDPE color.
Still need to paint the hovi mic tips and the brow is just a stand in.
The other one is a CO with ABS earcaps .
Not the best helmet(fiberglass) but one of the first that was made available.
This one is spray painted, I primered the entire helmet with a kahki color, applied maskol, and then spray painted the whole thing using two cans of paint. Still needs a lot of work.(decals from trooperdecals)
More to come.
And here is a group shot of almost all my helmets (also have a GF not pictured).
Cheers.
