Definitive List of District 9 Alien Guns

Er... you guys know Greg Broadmore is behind the design of WETA's Dr. Grordbort's Rayguns, right? Those are props - or pieces of art - that are commercially available.

So:

Is it possible that WETA would build and sell replicas of the D9 guns if they were convinced there was a market for them?

They first have to acquire the license but mentioned it would be a possibility if that happened. I'd love to see a WETA Making of D9 book also!!

Until then, we will have to drool over our Blurays!! :lol

I would so love to have a replica of this gun with internal lighting to match what we see on screen. Please somebody do this.

The Bluray has some really good pics of that particular gun from different angles. That would be tricky to get the front of the gun to look like it did in the movie.

I'd love to see any of these made. :love

Anyone know how to take screen grabs from a bluray disk?? I have Powerdvd8 and it won't do it.

You need either a capture card (your bluray/ps3 being plugged in it) or if you have a bluray on your PC, just pause and Prnt Screen

:)

Couldn't WETA make these guns fairly cheap? Just resin rotocast (hollow inside) them in several parts and assemble and paint. WETA has a new Raygun coming out that's largely plastic, instead of metal used before, and for substantially less (around $100 USD).

Hmm - I think the smallest D9 guns are easily 4x larger than the new raygun... They would also have to pay some licensing fees to make them, as opposed to their rayguns (which they have designed themselves).

Yes, no doubt it'd couldn't go for $100 like the smaller raygun. Licensing is easy since Weta is owned by Peter Jackson and he is the license holder for D9. I'd think he's also the money behind the Weta rayguns too. I'm on the Weta forums, so I'll ask them about this.
