Decal Film

I would use a clear transparency sheet, made for inkjets, then spray the back with 3M spray glue and apply.

Inkjet decals can be hard to work with - when you cut the decal make sure you leave a good couple of mm around the edge of your pattern, otherwise the ink will dissolve along the cut edge. A couple of coats of acrylic laquer will protect the image, but not the cut edge.

I've recently switched to colour laser decals after buying an incredibly cheap Samsung home colour laser (£99 - about $200) and the results are excellent - apply the decal & laquer afterwards, no spread of ink, no fades.

A friend of mine is restoring an old fire helmet and I did the graphics for it, the shield for the front and the hose apparatus for the sides.
I ordered injet decal paper from these guys and they worked pretty good. Now, this is the first time for printing decals. So, by no means an I an expert but they worked good!

Here is the link. I just ordered one of the try it kits!
