Deathstar panels

Hey there modeling gurus.

I got my hands on a couple of moulds taken from the Deathstar.

There's only 2, one's 2in x just under 3in and the other's 3 x 3in. I'd like to make some more to complement the ones I have, can anyone point me in the right direction to some decent images please

Here are a couple of pics I scanned from the Making of Star Wars book...sorry the quality seems pretty bad.

I don't know where your panels are from..dont see them in these pics....

I'd love to know the size of those panels, mine look similar, but not exactly the same. However, when I made inquiries to try and authenticate these, I was told that there were different scales done of the panels, so that might explain the difference.

Hi Kraig,

Are these castings of original pieces? They look pretty good to me as a base for models anyway.

I have seen a few death star tiled model bases on this forum and wondered if they were castings of originals or scratch built.

If anybody wants to discuss the bases and stands seen on this forum whether original castings or scratch builds I for one would like to hear about them

Hey Chris,

Apparently these were taken from a couple of DS panels. They were thrown in on a deal I made to buy some moulds and bucks.

There's some good photos of them in a interest thread I made in the JY.

The DS panels in Hankey's scans are probably a foot square. I was looking in the SW chronacles and they showed pictures of the 3 different scales. I tried to find you pannels but couldn't.

One thing I did notice was most of the modules were square and one looks very much like your rectange one. Wonder if it's an incomplete piece?

That's interesting, I was kind of wondering why there was a square one and a rectangle one. I was thinking that the model makers were making it hard on themselves :confused Thanks for the input Terrell, it makes sense.

On a side note, I really must pick up the SW chronicles book sometime, I've heard it's got a ton of good stuff in it.

I cant tell you whether these were definitely taken from screenused pieces but I can tell you that both styles of tile you have were used on the Death Star and they are of the right scale.
