Death Wish - Bad timing?

The wife and I saw this today. She had expressed interest otherwise I wouldn't have even asked her. She was one of two gals in the theater, a half full room of almost exclusively middle aged plus men (like me) who probably saw the originals in the theater.
It was shallow, refusing to go much beyond the shallow gun porn aspect, but a surprisingly entertaining 80's style action flick in a brainless bubble gum kind of way.
I'm thinking Brian Garfield might not be particularly happy with this film version, either. I think it still glorifies vigilantism, but at least Kersey in this film does suffer some psychological problems.

It was bit predictable (being a remake of sorts, how could it not be?). It definitely didn't shy away from the graphic violence (guns et al). Ultimately, it was nothing new, but Willis turned in a good performance. I knew what I was going in for, and I wasn't let down. Overall, it was worth seeing.

We were going to watch this last night but decided to watch the original (hadn't seen it since I was a kid).
The only redeeming quality I can think of is seeing a young Goldbloom. Poorly executed film making almost every way, even for the 70s. Bad script, acting, score, pacing...
Bronson was particularly awful in the role, it was almost painful to observe. I can't believe they kept making these movies for 20 years!
Hopefully the remake will be better.
