Has anyone ever attempted to make one of these? If not, have you ever modded an every day item into a cool sci-fi related prop that you use frequently? Just curious to see what is out there given the creativity on this board.

I love some of the rejected ideas for licensed merchandise-Jabba bean bag in particular. My girlfriend is sewing me up a Taun sleeping bag as I write this.

This BBQ would be a challenge to create. I imagine one may want to paint the detail on and I wonder if there are enough colors of High Temp paint to get the various shades of gray one might want. I am sure someone here would be crazy enough to stamp the pattern in. Maybe PHArchivist could turn his super awesome DS into a Hibachi. Did I just date myself? Do they even make those anymore?:confused

You know that Thinkgeek had one made up for an April Fool's joke a year or two ago and is now licensed to sell them. I'd be curious to see how yours compares to theirs.

I've seen a discussion about making one of these. I can't remember if it was here, or somewhere else.

It would be kind of impossible to make the lid do what you see it doing in both drawings with the same design.
