Death Star 10 cm model

Hi guys,
few days ago I started with my new project- the Death Star model....but only 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter.
It all started a month ago when I bought 10 cm acrylic sphere, which I intended for a project like this in near future.

My plan is to make it look like something like this:

Since I started, I haven't took the photos from the beginning, but I'll describe what I did.
First of all, I found dimensions of the DS studio model diameter and its dish (also on this forum, in the DS Studio Scale thread). Then I determined a diameter of my laser dish, marked it on a sphere and then made a hole for it. I also made a small hole on the bottom of a lower sphere for the cables.
After that I used fine sandpaper to sand it from the inside to diffuse light better.

I made a dish (which is a bit than an inch in diameter) from hard paper and a thin wire for the details.
I hot-glued it on the sphere, but from the inside ofc. Spheres are not glued together yet.

In the next few days I'm planning to install a light source and finish paintwork. Lights would be done by scratching paint off with a needle.
Now I would ask you for advice... For the scale that small, is it even worth (and possible) putting lights on the surface without damaging its look? I think it wouldn't look that good if those small holes for the lights were too noticeable during daylight...

Look at the size of that thing!
It's too small to be a space station!

Looks cool though, I've thought of doing one about two feet wide.

Finished!
I decided not to put light inside because some of the paint got inside the domes therefore blocking large amount of light. I was too lazy to remove it...
I hope I will add the Empire logo on the stand in the near future.
