Its fun. Stumbled upon it and really liked it. Apparently its loosely based or a Manga or Anime series in Japan.

Basic just of the movie is a kid finds a demons book. If you write a name down in the book, that person dies. But stories like this are never that simple are they?

Its a nteflix production and they did a great job. Not academy award material but a fun little movie with some twists. So check it out if you want. PG13 due to some minor gore.

It drew great criticism from fans of the previous incarnations..
That said, I've never watched/read those so I enjoyed this film for what it was.
I agree that it was pretty decent.

Speaking as a fan of the original anime series it was based on, it was a travesty. Willem Defoe was the only decent casting in the entire thing, but it strays so brutally far from the source material it's like Stephen King and the film Lawnmower Man which had no connection.

(shrug) It helps going in (somewhat) blind. It made me want to check out the anime and I've watched a few episodes since. (got caught up in work shortly after and haven't had much time)
At the very least, it could draw in new fans who might not have checked it out otherwise.
