Deadpool Costume Build (movie version)

The replica Desert Eagle's have been received, but since I'm on a military installation overseas I had to send it to my parents' house so I wasn't able to get any pictures of it. :unsure

Now I'm just at a standstill until my suit and mask arrives. Fingers crossed that it'll be this week. :confused

So today in the mail I got the 2 Condor drop leg molle thigh rigs which will have the DE holsters attached once they arrive. Also my square yard of red cordura came in, in case I need to mod the suit at all. Locally, I purchased another square meter of red leather as well as some back and brown leather. The brown will be used for the belt, where it attaches to the Deadpool logo buckle.

Finally got my mask in today! It's no fault of the seller for my mask and my costume taking forever. Both are overseas, and since I'm on a military base overseas, it has to go to the US and then back overseas.

I think the heat from here caused the face shield to widen just a little bit, so I'm working to get it back to the width of my face. It's barely noticeable. It fits well. Vision is good and I can breathe. So that's a plus. I set it beside my extra cordura and the color in person is almost a perfect match. The mask material is Lycra I believe. I'll start weathering it soon to darken the color to match the movie costume.

Now for the suit to arrive some time soon. It'll be delivered to my parents' house in the states and shipped over here.

Stuff is finally starting to trickle in for the suit! Today I received my metal belt buckle and plastic(?) back scabbard from ShapeWays. Not bad construction. I'm concerned about the stability of the back scabbard. I'm considering casting it so if it breaks I can make more. Now I have to learn how to cast stuff. Oh well, it's a skill I've always wanted anyway. Pictures below. Oh, and the suit is still in transit. Last night it was in NC, so hopefully it'll be delivered today.

Today I picked up about a square meter of red cow skin leather for the shin guards. My plan is to make a fiberglass "core" and wrap it in the leather.

Now I'm just enjoying some coffee and doing more research! I think I found a more accurate boot rather than the Nike SFB chukka's. I found these generic Chinese boots that mimic the lines and employ a side zipper. The Nike boots I bought don't have a side zipper. The only problem is the soles, they don't match. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Where did ya find the boots?

The Nike SFB chukka is no longer in production. That turned out to just be the boots used for the stuntman. The hero boots are the 5.11 Skyweight boot. The downside with that boot is, besides being $130-180, is that nothing on it is metal. The eyelets and the side zipper are plastic. Most reviews complain that the zipper bursts after short usage. The generic Chinese boots I bought can be found here:

In the end I will most likely buy the 5.11's just to get it as authentic as I can.

The Desert Eagle holsters came in today and they look gorgeous!

Got the holster attached to the molle rig. Unfortunately, I won't have any replica DE's to put in them until I get back to the US :(

I painted the buckle tonight. I put about 2 coats of acrylic on it. This was my first attempt. Like I said before, my resources are limited out here, so I don't have spray paint (which undoubtedly would have been a million times better). But I think it turned out alright for my first attempt. I was too eager to get it painted, so my next coat I'll tape it off to get crisp edges.

I wasn't too thrilled with the color of the web belt that I received. Even though it said "coyote tan" it looked more green than anything. Nothing like the old Vietnam web belts, but still had that tinge of green. So I picked up some fabric dye, and now it's boiling for the next hour in a nice brown bath. Afterwards I'll let it dry, wash it, and post some results! Also included is a close up of the hero belt.

PS in case you were wondering, yes I will be adding the leather ends that feed through the buckle loops.

I'm not sure how I feel about the dye. On the one hand it kind of made it look old and used, which I really love, but I think it made it look far more green than brown. Understandably, it's a synthetic material, and you can never be certain how well it'll take the dye. Thoughts?

Ah so I tried dying some coyote tan pouches black with some back Rit dye. They turned out dark brown. Guess I know what I'm doing with that web belt!

So here's the final product for the buckle and belt. It's not as brown as I want, but maybe his belt didn't start out that brown? Who knows, I dyed it several times with brown dye, and then a final dye in black. I took it outside and wiped it down with a wet paper towel with some black fabric paint sprayed onto it, and that's the final product.

I'm debating on whether or not to use these pouches in place of the 2 black pouches as he has in the movie.

Ok, so after some research, I've determined that the belt was made for the movie. Here's a picture of the front of the movie belt, and the backside of it. Notice that the holes do not go all the way around the belt. And the belt also does not have the edging like it does on the front. Obviously it's not your standard military issue web belt. Oh well.

So I think I found the knife! SOG Desert Dagger. Now to just find the sheath.

Also, I did some testing with Orthoglass, which is used to make casts. I did a quick mold to see how it would turn out, and I think that it'll work. Obviously this was just a test, and with the correct cut and appropriate details, I can get it to work as the back shell for the glove.

Build is looking great mate! you're gonna top my suit if you keep going this way!
Thanks man! I got the suit in today. I'm gonna have to modify the calf area. It's too snug. I must have messed up my metric conversions. But I have extra cordura and a cosplay/seamstress friend who can help. Here's some pictures! The jacket fits perfectly. The pants fit great too in the waist and thigh area. I'm thoroughly pleased with it. The color matches perfectly with the mask too! And the color is darker in person, than in the pictures. I'm glad.

Got the 5.11 boots in today as well. They do run a bit small, as I had read, so I ordered a half size up and they fit like a glove. They are insanely comfortable out of the box. Also with that came my belt screws (going to be used for the molle rig that the holsters attach to) and they will be used to mount the back scabbard. ALSO some snap fasteners which will be installed on the boot to attach the red armor that snaps over the laces. This is going to be a busy weekend!

I think you should change the knee pads. They're supposed to be a rubber material
I have a few ideas that I'm going to try. I have some modifications in mind.
