dude eyes are wayyyyy too big you need to look at a picture of the actual deadmau5 head before you do it causer the eys arent close .sorry

Hey im from scotland and about to under-go making my very own mau5head... I have my 14" acrylic globe and just about to start marking up for cut-outs does anyone have the best walk through for how to begin with the cut-outs???

Hello everyone, This is my first post, every time i searched for deadmau5 head this site came up . So since it has helped me create my first head, I figured I have to share.

So it all started here:

Then after following the pics from deadmau5's specs, I got a mouth and cut it out:

Then Being silly I held up my new construction foam ears:

Then First Night of getting the ears attached I had to spin with it on:

Then Covered the Ears with Black Velvet:

Eye Light Test:

Mouth Vision test, ( With no Eyes, lol) :

Then this is what I ended up with :

FYI, The Visor is functional

Also ordered a chin strap for hard hat, It moves around a bit if I'm dancing around.

Enjoy, and thanks to all members that have posted , It really gave me more motivation to finish this project, Now one week till I get to party it up.

Excellent looking mau5head!!

Im going to start the marking out and cutting of the mouth, have you any tips on how to do this?

i have made a head for halloween, but its done with paper mache and i have made it quick. it looks good, but not perfect. but i am planning on doing one and taking my time with it, something ive never got is the dimensions... anyone have a good outline of dimension sizes???

what kind of foam is used for the ears? I can't find a anything thats nice and light but won't get melted by the fiberglass :/

I believe most foam does that. There has to be some sort of coating to protect the foam from dissolving. I think Volpin uses resin but I have also heard that you can use acrylic paint. I'm not positive I'm a newbie but if you give a whirl I am curious to see how it works bc I will be doing this soon too!

So this past weekend I was in Vegas for my birthday...and I took my mau5head with me as deadmau5 was performing the last night we were there. While the straws I got with my drinks were long enough, I think I'll need to invest in making my next head have some sliding action in the mouth.

There was a really sweet mau5head there too that lit up (dude got pulled up on stage..or at least his head did)

I wrapped my foam ears with a few layers of duck tape before fiberglassing. Worked perfect

Good old hot glue. Lots of it.

Though I cut out the side panels and drilled some small holes into the remaining center 'band' so some of the glue could seep into them for extra grip.

Hahaha I honestly thought there was going to be a huge mess involved, welp..
I got most of my materials bookmarked and I've been trying to pay as much attention as possible in every thread I've come across.

Hopefully I can get something before Halloween! I'm just still stuck on the process for the ears, or where the template for the "lips" are.

this is a WIP shot of my sons 12" head for this halloween. Everything is just mocked up in place and those are the ears off his evil head from last year.

4-1/2" OD (2-1/4" tall) acrylic domes or half-spheres, which I found to be easier to find than 4-1/2" OD light globes, or balls or anything along those lines. Thankfully, Giz directed me in that direction otherwise I probably wouldn't have found anything that perfect.

Almost done, just the mouth to go!

What are you guys using for light to get the eyes that bright and uniform?

was thinking of trying one of these per eye with a diffuser
