My sons evilmau5 100% finished. I think it turned out really well for my first filled/sanded lip and painted globe. My son wont stop wearing it around the house.

Its a shame the canceled halloween in my city this year. Looks like he'll only be able to trick n' treat at the mall :(

(if the image doenst work ill upload it to the site, was seeing if I could host it off facebook)

AND DONE! just in time for halloween! how does it look. some constructive criticism would be great.

I met you at the deadmau5 concert in SD, didn't I? If that wasn't you there was someone there with a head exactly like yours. I was the one with the white mau5head with Famau5 in EL wire on the back and my girlfriend had the Hello Kitty mau5head.

Are your ears styrofoam or foam covered in fabric? If they are styrofoam you can paint them using a water based paint and then use the Krylon spray paint on them so they will look the same as the head.

Hi! I'm new here but I've stopped by from time to time to get a good reference when building my Deadmau5 head so I thought I would share how I build mine :)

I've created an instructable for those interested
How to Build a Deadmau5 Head!

Here are some of the Deadmau5 heads I've built.

Love seeing all these updates!!! Such good work guys!!!

SO I am thinking of doing a 2nd mau5 head... I had a few questions regarding the mouth area that maybe some of you more experienced creators could answer!

What do you specifically use for the wire mesh? Do you manually get it to take the same curve as the head? If so, how? or do you find a mesh that already has that spherical curve that fits with the head? I see some meshes that are just "flat" and dont actually follow the spherical curve... I very much like the look of the mouth following the roundness of the head. Does that make sense?

Secondly... anyone have any leads as to what kind of metal grate/mesh Joel is using on his new Cheese Head? It follows the sphere contour of the head and looks AWESOME in my opinion! Thanks in advance!

For my mouth, I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of metal gutter mesh which was already curved/bent pretty closely to the shape of the mouth. For a few days, I clamped it to the piece of acrylic that I cut out for my mouth so that the mesh would continue to take the shape. Good luck with your second Deadmau5 head!

Also, I am selling my head so if anyone is interested send me a PM!!!!!

I used some diamond metal mesh that I got from Blick Art Supplies. It bends and forms to the curve very nice. I also painted it white before I put the white nylon over it.

As far as what Joel is using, it is perforated metal mesh and I bet it's pounded out to the shape that he needs and then attached like a visor so he can move it up and down. His last few heads have all had them. I first noticed it on the 5 ball head. He has to have some kind of form that he using to get it to the round shape.

Thanks guys! I wonder how the best way to come up with a form for that kind of thing would be... think a few hours and a rubber mallet is the way to go?

I really don't have any idea other than taking a rubber hammer to it. The perforated metal can't be that thick because you wouldn't want it to be heavy, so my guess is that it wouldn't take that much to hammer it to the shape you needed. You could use the original cutout for the mouth as a guide to the shape you want.

A rubber mallet and clamps to clamp the wire metal mesh to the acrylic mouth that you cut out did the job for me!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! DEADMAU5!!!!!!!!! Holy WOWS! These heads are AMAZING! :D Fantastic! I just love Deadmau5! I was out on Halloween blasting Ghosts N Stuff in Soundwave! :)

We're talking about perforated metal, not metal mesh. Perforated metal like the stuff that Joel is using on his heads now. They are the same shape as the globe and work like a visor.
