De Agostini Millennium Falcon is a GO

Just seen a TV advert for the build by weekly DeAgostini Millennium Falcon on UK TV. So I guess its a goer..finally.

Need to see detail shots before I decide on this one, but it looks like the 5 foot detail on a 32" from a quick see on the advert..might be wrong though.

Im in two minds whether to stop my BMF conversion now. This is looking really good and looks to be the mutts nutts....

Its DeAgostini's life-size version of the 32" Falcon from The Empire Strikes Back.....as it says in the trailer

Just picked up 2 copies of issue one of the DeAgostini Build your own Millennium Falcon

It has parts that could be useful for my Hasbro Hero Series Falcon,.....obviously the parts on this are larger scaled

I bought 2 copies to get 2 Quad guns

Other parts are obviously scaled too much as the DeAgostini Falcon builds up to 32"

The cockpit back wall,....although waaaayyyy to big could be cut down to fit??

£2.99 for the first issue,.....too good an opportunity not to buy,....even for the magazine

Easons,.....which is an Irish newsagents which also has stores in Northern Ireland......I'd say you'd get it in WH Smiths no problem

Happy New Year to everyone

I'm not sure my wife would tolerate another Falcon in the Family since I have 2 BMF's and 2 Hero Falcons. I would at least want to get the quad cannons and cockpit cone for my BMF conversion though.

Man is an insatiable creature. We desire Falcons to no end. Can't our wives understand this? Ah, they know we don't have the money :)

Not sure I will be going for the DeAgostini. Seems like it could end up being another re-build project...there just aren't enough detail photos to determine whether its worth buying into at this point. The quad lasers look un-refined and the cockpit seats rudimentary so its not a good start IMHO. Plus the gunport canopy is badly shaped and this is just the first few parts!!!!

Plus its a two year project..which will cost £900 and be something you might look at when finished, with a critical eye and go ...Meh! And of course the way it will go is that there will be super detailers manufacturing more accurate pieces, to replace the DeAgostini bits, which we will all need and which will seriously bump the price of the completed Falcon, so as I said..another re-build project. Effectively it will be the Hasbro Falocn but in resin or plastic thats easier to work with and 32(31) inches rather than 29 of the Hasbro

Unless it suddenly gets accurate from hereon in...I'm out on this one.

JMHO which aint worth nothing

Hope everyone has a Great New Years
