DAVID LYNCH dies at 78

I still have a lot of the Lynch library to see, but even so i can see he was a visionary. RIP

WILD AT HEART was my favorite from him. He definitely was an acquired taste. Loved his cameo as John Ford in THE FABELMANS.

This one hits more than most to me.

Lynch showed me how to see the beauty in the horror & how to love both. Most of my friends didn't get or care for most of his work, but almost all respected both the work & the man himself.

I've gone down many a rabbit hole with Mister Lynch & I'll shout, sing, & openly declare his praises until my dying day.

George Lucas wanted him to direct ROTJ. He passed on it because it felt too mainstream and George for him.

It's interesting to speculate what that movie would have been like. After reading the Rinzler ROTJ book, I came away thinking Richard Marquand had some real influence on it the movie. His directing didn't stand out but he was involved in producer/writer level decisions too. He died 3 years later so his voice is mostly absent from SW history.

I can't see ROTJ staying on track very well with David Lynch, to be honest. His instinct (that SW was too far out of his lane) was probably correct.

His movies are wild. I still have a few to see. I read a story seemingly a few months ago that mentioned his health wasn't that great. He was on oxygen and staying at home. But was looking to direct a project remotely or something.

There was a funny story about David Lynch by a guy on youtube named Sean Clark. He collects props and does movie location tours. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a member here. Anyways, it was a about a pie and David Lynch helped him get the pie he wanted. It sounded just as wild as something in his movies. I would link the video but I can't remember which one the story was in.

I like his Dune better than the new overly praised ones !

I heard about Eraserhead for years, and I was still unprepared for how wild it is. I loved it, along with Twin Peaks. He was a true creative visionary!
