Dave Hester Fired from "Storage Wars" - claims show is faked

Barry is cool. Give him his own show collecting cool stuff.

My only problem with Barry is that sometimes I feel like he misses the forest for the trees. He will be so interested in getting inside a suitcase that he doesn't realize that maybe the suitcase is worth the money.

I wish people would stop saying and typing, "YUUUUUUP!" Crap! Did it myself!:sick

Storage sellers and buyers are probably the lowest form of life along with Pawn Shops!

There are some creepy ones on there. The only one that is tolerable is the one on another channel with the giant guy called Ton. He and his buddy have more misses than hits when they get their storage units.

That's even less 'real' than Storage Wars. The series with Ton is 100% reenactment, 'based upon' what they say has been their past history with storage lockers.

Give me American Chopper or American Restoration any day over this other stuff. At least I get to see some skill sets I don't have and how stuff is built.

He digs in so quick he nearly kills himself too. LOL

And in somewhat related news the cast of Pawnstars is being sued by former talent agents. Seems like the week for reality lawsuits.

Barry is a Millionaire.

His net worth is between 7-9 million.

I think to him, this is like gambling. You can throw money on a card table and see if you win, or buy a locker for that hunch and see if you win. He just enjoys the high of taking a gamble. I think he really could care less if he wins.

he is on the show for entertainment purposes.....the comic relief of the show to keep it interesting....im sure he can careless what he wins or what he bids on....has nothing to do with gambling...he doesnt need the money...its all about being on tv

Some gamble for the rush and some gamble to win. He is that rich guy that likes to drop $1,000 bets with friends on stupid things. He doesn't need the money for sure, but he seems to like getting "the score". Most likely he just likes that rush.

I've only caught a handful of episodes, but I like the one where Berry got a locker with a Revenge of the Jedi jacket in it. At first he was like, "A crappy jacket"...then he was thinking about it...."Wait a minute, I thought it was Return of the Jedi...."
Took it to a guy and it was worth 3k or something like that.

I gave up on American Chopper years ago. Now all they show is Jason coming out of his office with a design and then the guys tacking things together. Then it's paint, powder coat, and chrome. I do not know if I will watch the next FaceOff either. Except for some of the animatronics that Roy did, I really did not see anything new. And then I saw the host on the 20 or 25 year SyFy anniversary and she actually said they do not show drama. Has she never seen her own show?

'Reality TV' What an oxymoron. I watch the show every once in a while just to see what interesting crap they will plant in the lockers. Sure its staged, but not as bad as Operation Repo and some of the other junk floating to the top. Producers love Reality TV because its low production costs, talent costs etc. And they still get to sell ad time for a premium. Good business model. If a
'Housewife' gets uppity they get replaced. Hissy-Fit Hester learned that the hard way. Now Barry is a cool cat.

In the article Dave quoted the Elvis papers as one of the plants, was he not the one to buy that locker and make the money ?

Oh, come on people.

We all know these shows have set up from the begining.

Could they afford to film hundreds of lockers without finding anything.

There was a set of Uranium glass, extemely rare, as they say on the show. That has popped up on three different shows. first on Storage Wars, then Storage Wars: Texas and then on Auction Hunters.

Season one of the Texas show.... Bubba finds a Michelin man air compressor.

The next season of American Restorations.... someone brings in a Michelin man air compressor to have restored.

We watch the show for entertainment, to see horrible people acting like jerks.... and every once and a while to see an actual "treasure" show up.

Some people are just Thermians, and believe all of the Historical documents that they see on TV.

"Real TV" is watching the Lobby Cam in my Condo, Hours of waiting... just to watch someone walk though and get on the elevator.

I've seen a few episode of this, and shipping wars. It's plain as day that the shows are both staged for comedic and scripted value. The confessional portions of the shows could never be done the way they are if the show was not staged or scripted.

There is one reality show I get depressed if I miss: The various "Total Drama Island" series. Ok, technically a cartoon, But other than that it is as real as any of the other shows.

I really liked the movie season where they kept reenacting horror movies in the competitions. The "Aliens" one was epic.

Every reality show is faked to some extent or another. Whether it's "creative editing" in order to create a story where none really existed, or flat-out invention and staging, there is just too much money at stake to really let it all be honest. You can't sell an entire season unless you can guarantee drama.

The only reality show I ever really loved was the first season of the Joe Schmo Show, where it was all actors trying to convince a guy it was all real. I still don't know how authentic that show was, but the premise was genius -- and hilarious.

But as far as this whole Hester thing goes, I have to wonder: Wouldn't the producers have forced him to sign an NDA that would open him up to a counter-suit if he confessed it wasn't real? If not, they were idiots.
