So maybe someone can shed some light on the matter. I would like some advice on an auction that is live on ebay. its for a DV helmet a Rubies supreme edition which is modified. What I would like to know was if this is a good first buy to have as a display piece and an occasional wear to show off. I'm eventually planning on giving this one to my son when he is a little bit older.
I'm planning to pay $100 inlcuding shipping to the Netherlands.

So can I post the link? thanks for your help!

Pics posted of the ended auction in my last post.

Hi. It is against the CoC of the RPF to post links to live eBay auctions.

Please edit your post and delete the eBay link.

thanks and sorry. I read the CoC a long time ago so didn't think about it. I will delete the link and maybe a moderator can delete the thread for it is not relevant anymore.
again I'm sorry

I would understand not posting a link to say an auction where you are trying to sell something... Why is it against the rules if he is trying to get advice on a piece?
Just curious.

So, if I understand correctly my first post is not against the rules, and I can just post it? That would be awesome cause I would very much like your expert advice!

To answer your question, $100 shipped for a well-modified Rubies helmet is a steal, cheap as chips in fact.

The unmodified helmets sell for around that in Europe.

Without seeing pics, it's hard to give an informed opinion, but if it looks nice and has been modified properly then yes it's a bargain.

Than I would like to thank you for your advice. I got a mesage this morning saying I won the bid. for the amount of $106, $56 for the helmet $50 for shipping to NL.
the mask is painted in the correct two tone color scheme as seen in the ESB. the front grill has been replaced as wel as the tusk to also give it a more screen accurate look. the one thing that needs attention is the velcro pad that holds the dome to the mask. it needs to be reglued. So overall I'm very happy now

here are some pics.

for the cost its a great deal! looking at the pics show that ..yep only the paint scheme the tusks and lower grill has been modified, now you only need to do the lenses, the neck flare, line on the dome, dome mount re-positioning, upper grill, the hollowed out left cheek the nose ridge and a few other small details. cant wait to see you post the modifications you will do yourself, :)

So I've got a few extra things to do. :unsure Are these al things I, a total noob in modifications, can do myself? That, ofcourse, is the million dollar question. luckily there are some tutorials here on the rpf. But it would be a shame if I mess the helmet up beyond repair.

i too am waiting on a rubies lid, and will be attempting to do the modifications. if i convert our local currency to US$ it will cost me roughly 200 us$ for a bnew rubies lid. so your purchase is really cool. with a little patience and determination those modifications can ( in my honest opinion) be tackled by noobs like us.

Modifying a Rubies Vader helmet was my first big project. One thing I recommend is altering the position of the dome on the helmet. I completely removed the mounting piece from the top of the helmet and also the piece inside the dome. I then riveted the back half of a skateboard helmet and the dome rests on its own, at the perfect angle as well.
