A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Away...... Alright it was Scarborough in 1977 or 1978, my brother and I saw this bloke dressed up as Darth Vader and my brother had his picture taken with him. I'm fairly sure it was '77 as my brother is wearing his Silver Jubilee t-shirt.

Just putting this up for interests sake - the bloke had made this all up from scratch, with the exception of the lightsaber which was the only licensed product available at the time. The lightsaber was basically a torch with a naff plastic cover attached. Oh how I wanted one!

I just wish I had pictures from the display Star Wars had at the Ideal Home Exhibition in '77. 2 stormtroopers, X-Wings, Y-Wings, TIE fighters....

Anyway, for your delight and edification:

That's priceless! I remember too as a kid and a guy dressing up as Vader for our school carnival. I thought he looked awesome... now I'm sure I'd get a laugh. But to a kid, that's pretty cool!

HA! That's great!

Just in case you're not sure which movie this is from, he has it on the chestbox!:p Hilarious!

Classic, I love pics like that--it takes me back too. In fact I had that exact lightsaber. My brother and I both got one that Christmas. His saber lit up red and mine was green.

Cheers,

me and my brother also had those lightsabers, we got em for xmas when we were little, i had the blue one and my brothe the red, sadly they were taken off us after 20 minutes becasue we were being too violent.

got them back after about a month.

Awesome!! There is nothing better than vintage pictures of our childhood. Time goes so fast, it's nice to have something to hold on to and look back on from time to time.

HA!!!!!
Amazing!!!!

I got my pic taken with the exact same Vader guy in Scarborough! I was only about 10 at the time and i thought he was amazing...

Thanks for bringing back grat memories!!

In case anyone is wondering why it's a pic of my brother and not me, it's because I was too cool to have my pic taken with this Vader (and definitely not because he was big and scary...............)

That saber was not licensed - that's 'The Force Beam' saber.
I have one still - although I can't find the bulb at the moment.

The belt's not accurate.

what are you talking about that's the most accurate belt ever... and the armor is just superb... if you look real close in the original ANH film you can see the HUGE star wars letters on vader... the color is a bit off though... Best Costume Ever! (y)lol:lol
