Darth Vader Armor Help/Opinion

Hi RPF peeps. I have been recently working on putting together a ESB Vader costume for trooping and Halloween. Like many before me, becoming Vader has been a dream of mine since i was a little boy.

Anyway, in squiring parts for my costume I made the mistake of diving head first and probably did not do enough research before hand. I spent the last month or so, brushing up on various vendors and parts. Especially reading lots of forum posts here and on other sites.

That said, I recently acquired a set of vader armor and I need some input. The seller informed me that this armor was based on GH armor. My issue with the armor is that the neck line is warped and seems to be too big.(photo1)

Also, the part that wraps over your shoulders (around the back side) does not seem to be correct.

It doesn't line up with the shoulder bells. I'm not a small guy (6'5") but I had to pad the armor significantly to get it to sit anywhere near correctly.

Are these things typical of this cast of Vader armor or did i just get a lousy set of armor?

Thanks for any input.

It is typical that you need to pad an armor but the bad casts have the flaring front corners. That GH definitely may have had it's time, but a Darth Stone or bookface armor right now would be the best ones available and fit a lot better.

Indeed ... I just got a second armor which is a bit smaller then the first ... however if I want to make it look accurate ... I would have to reposition the shoulder bells :wacko ... to think the original was probably even more crappy ... it was thanks to Dave Prowse and how his stature was, which made such a great an everlasting impression ;)

Thanks for the replies guys. I have set of armor and a Vader lid on order from bookface, so all hope is not lost. I guess I just expected more.
