Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hey everyone just joined i wanted to ask a few questions

First what mm should be the thickness of the cardboard paper and second is there a way to scale the model to fit me.

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

yes, you can scale it using pepakura :) STEALTH has a lot of tutorials in youtube on how to use it, and it covers scaling of the pep files. just search for "theherotutorials" GOODLUCK!

Hi Darkside

First i just want to say thankyou for all the hard work your putting in and for sharing it as well
I am new member and i joined the forum because of the amazing work you and other guys on here do so thank you again

The question i am asking is about the 2nd version paper files, are you updating all the files?

The reason is i have held back doing the chest, back, and abs just in case and done the shoulders, biceps, elbows, forarms as they looked spot on to me and i dont think they would interfear with the main parts fitting together ect.

will there be major changes on the other parts chest ect

thanks for your time

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Here are the files I have from your cloud drive. They are the last three on the list:

Iron Man MKVII Upper Forearm by Darkside501st - FOAM EDIT BY ironmaided.pdo

Iron Man MKVII Upper Forearm by Darkside501st - Modified FOAM EDIT BY ironmaided2(1).pdo

Iron Man MKVII Upper Forearm by Darkside501st - Modified FOAM EDIT BY ironmaided2.pdo

Sorry just realized that one is a copy. So there is only 2. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I checked the skydrive and the copy is not there so that had to have happened on your computer after you downloaded it. I did see the two different foam edits and I now remember that ironmaided did do two versions. The first one is a template of my file. The second one is modified from my file. The only difference being that he shrunk down the elbow part. He may have done this because it may have been interfering with the elbow part.

Thank you very much for the recognition. For the version 2 files there will not be any major changes but they will be more accurate than the version 1 files. Most of the people will not notice the differences. Only us costume fanatics that have studied the suit will be able to tell.

For scaling, STEALTH has made some great video tutorials on pepakura and not only can you find your answer there but you can learn a lot more about pepakura by watching some of his videos. Look him up on Youtube. Search for TheHeroTutorials.

For card stock they do not usually measure it in thickness because it is not thick enough to measure. As mentioned, you should look for 110lbs card stock.

This excerpt is from a wiki article on card stock:

Card stock, also called cover stock or pasteboard, is a paper stock that is thicker and more durable than normal writing or printing paper, but thinner and more flexible than other forms of paperboard. Card stock is often used for business cards, postcards, playing cards, catalog covers, scrapbooking, and other uses which require higher durability than regular paper. The texture is usually smooth, but can be textured, metallic, or glossy.
Card stock thickness is often described by pound weight. Pound weight is the weight of 500 sheets of 20 by 26 in (508 by 660 mm) paper. This differs from how text stock is determined, which assumes 500 sheets of 25 by 38 in (635 by 965 mm) paper. Most countries use the term grammage to describe the weight of the paper in grams per square metre. The term card stock is used to describe paper with weights from 50 lb to 110 lb (about 135 to 300 g/m²).

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

you can try sears and look for the floor mats which comes in a big roll costs about 20 bucks and with 2 rolls you can do a whole suit.. i get my foam from their in new york

Thanks. I had done a google search and for some reason I recall there was no listing in Boston... The store locator says there is one just outside of Boston, though, in Cambridge, MA with easy access. I'll check that out, as well as our local auto zone for other necessary things.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I finally got a video up on your suit DS. A friend took the video of me on his camera but when he sent it to me it was 23.4 MB which isn't good cause YouTube only takes 15 MB, so I couldn't upload from there. So I just took video of my computer. It might be a tiny bit blurry then the video on the computer, but one day I'll upgrade it hopefully. It's called Iron Man Mark 7 Complete, my channel is tytytyth. The video is young so you'll probably have to find my channel.
