Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I actually want to make a mark III/VII hybrid.
The Mark III with the Mark VII extras

Removable detail and the removable rocket pack.

any thoughts on that? aesthetically pleasing ? or no?...

I think this can be a cool design.

That actually sounds like a pretty cool idea. Was thinking of doing something like that myself.=)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Thanks for providing all of these pepakura files!

I have a question (and it may be slightly noob); in terms of the forearmes, biceps etc. is there something I should be doing to modify the pepakura files for the left and right corresponding limbs or are the files symmetrical in that they can be used for both sides of the body without having to modify the pepakura file?

Thanks!

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I just flip the pattern. Instead of having to modify the pepakura file.

So setting->invert pattern?
With that said, does that mean that Darkside's pep files come as the right or left limb of the suit? ... I just want to make sure I don't screw up :p

you can either flip from the pepakura itself( which used lost of paper)
or flip the aready cut out templet ( which taugh by stealth ) and make a twin build at the same time.. save time, save paper.. :thumbsup

Do you have the link to that tutorial? Thanks!

I'll make sure to throw some pictures up here of my work! :)

Actually, the arms are symmetrical so it will be exactly the same if you invert the pattern or flip the templates. The only parts that are asymmetrical are the shin and the thigh. I have also uploaded files for these parts that are already inverted so you don't have to do anything, just download all the files. There are no Foam courterparts though because, as mentioned, you just flip the template over.

Joker53, you have some nice progress there. Keep it up.

All I can say is, "Joker and the Amazing Technicolor Ironman Suit!"

Sorry, I could not resist. So did you start with the chest first or the neck? I'm starting to scale this for my 11 year old son for Halloween and was going to start with the chest but not sure if the neck would be better.

Thanks.

I would start with the abs... whatever scale you get for those should be applied to the chest, back, and cod for the best fit. Then if you have to modify the scale for the arms and legs you have a little wiggle room there.

hahaha:lol..... i start with the chest first, its easy for me to start, used one paper for referent ( as shown in the picture)for the arc reactor which i built way before i know " the rpf " existence..
one i finished it, i build the back with the same technique using one paper for referent which connect the rip area to the back.. the neck i buil alots using fun foam..

all depends on which you feel right..

I have a build starting of Iron Man Mark II,IV,V,VI,VII and the War Machine armor. I want to start a thread on it, but EVERYONE has a thread on an Iron Man armor now. Would you RPF members be interested enough in the thread? If so I will start it soon.

Amazing thread. Can't wait to start working on the Mark VII next month.

If what you're saying is that you have your own hall of armor, then YES! :)

I'm new here, so I'd like to introduce myself.

I've been searching google and allover for pictures and references on the mark vii armor and I keep stumbling upon this forum. So I decided to read through some of the threads and fell in love with this one. Darkside, my friend, you have some major talent and I absolutely cannot wait for you to finish your work. I plan on creating a suit of my own using your files. I found an article with pictures of hot toys wip for their 12inch figure. The pictures aren't of very good quality, but it might help you get a better idea of how the thigh pods work.

I don't know if it will help much but I'm here to help in anyway possible. Keep up the good work.

That is pretty sweet... Welcome to the forum and I am glad you are enjoying my thread.

I have been anticipating the Hot Toys Mark VII but I haven't seen any good pictures yet. I like that they show you some details of the compartments. Although, I think they have the thighs wrong. I remember it opening differently in the movie. I will have to double check.

I would for sure be interested in the War Machine related items. I am going to start working on my own project soon and I like seeing all the inspiring things people have and do.

I believe it was similar in how it opened, but with the missiles moving outward from the inside of the pod, something that would be far too complicated to make on a 12inch model lol. I'm sure it would be possible to build the pods with a deployment manner that matches the on screen counterpart. I'm making up some drawings on how the mechanics on this would work.
