Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Darkside, is IronLeoMan still unfolding the last back that you made, in the 1st post?

Or did he stop because you're going to make a new one?

IDK... I haven't heard from him in a while... I haven't really pursued it cause the foam templates already got posted and I will be doing version 2. Last I heard he was almost done but he may have stopped. Maybe he will chime in and let you know.

STL is the most widely used format for stereolithographic CAD files. i was thinking of purchasing a 3d printer and that is the file type it reads.

I hope he is.. I plan on using that file :(

Oh ok. I dont have much experience with 3D printing. However these files are nowhere near 3D print quality. It wouldn't be worth it to print these files. You would still have to finish your print with bondo... kind of defeats the purpose.

From what I understand, this suit was meant to be modular in a similar way to the War Machine armor. I would be interested to know if Josh made any other weapons that were not used in the movie.

Thank you... now I am curious though. lol

That's a good one, I will add it to the list.

Is anyone else here having trouble logging on since we switched back to TheRPF domain? It used to automatically log me in when I visited the site. Now I have to login every time and I get kicked out after about 5 min (sometimes even less) and then I have to login again. It is very frustrating.

Maybe try clearing your cookies/cache. I had to do that when we first switched over

Ok, I sent Josh a message with several questions. I really hope he will be kind enough to help us out. He said it wasn't a problem but keep your fingers crossed anyways. lol

I am keeping an eye on this. Would love to know the ins and outs of this armor.

hey darkside i just remembered about this still they released the other day from the closing credits sequence from the avengers and it has really close detail of the inside of the mark vii forearm missle compartment and i thought it could help :)

Man, that is a nice picture... it will help a lot. Plus that is his right arm which means that he has identical rockets on both forearms since the one he fired in the movie was from his left arm. That is unless, of course, they made a mistake and either mirrored the movie scene or picked the wrong arm for the credits. Although, my bet is that the forearms are symmetrical.

I didn't get to see the credits cause my son had to go so bad he was dancing. Did they show any other parts of the suit in the credits?

New pics:

Nice pictures... I have both of those but with all the background clutter... these are nice and clean and I think higher resolution... thanks.

theres one really close one but its only of the palm of the hand and the rest of the arm is blurred in the background and one more of the whole suit from about the waist up but its blurred in the background as well so not really helpful when looking for detail

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

hey darkside501st, just curious what the best way is to create an opposite arm or leg using the provided v1 pep files? also, which side is shown in the files as they are? am i correct in assuming it's the left?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

If you are a student then you probably don't want to study mine. lol I would be surprised if I am doing things the same way they teach in schools. Plus I am not out to make a movie quality model here. It will be a low poly count model to make the pepping easier but high detail (for panel lines, etc.). So you probably want to look for someone that does this as more than just a hobby. :D

Ehh, I know what good edgeflow looks like. Who knows you might be too hard on yourself. I'd love to see it anyway. If you don't wanna toss em in the thread because you don't think the edge flow is any good, feel free to shoot it my way in a PM instead.

The arms are symmetrical. This means the right is the same as the left.

The legs are mirrored. If you were wearing the leg pieces in the files then you would be putting them on your right leg. In order to get the left leg all you have to do is go to the 2D menu and click on 'Invert Pattern' It will then flip all the pieces and then you just move them back on the page. I will have both a right and a left side for my version 2 files.

- HEY... The gloves are different, too.

What makes you say that? If it is the gaps around the thumb I think that is just because the pieces are sliding around. They made Roberts gloves into many pieces to increase flexibility.
