Dann's Blaster Projects - (Latest) FM ANH Hero Project from Nov 2022

Here's where I'm at with the traditional SE-16 Custom blaster pistol!!

I've made some changes, taken things away, put new things on, etc.

I'm not calling it DONE just yet, but I think it's close.

Hope y'all like 'em!

Your dedication to detail and the awesome weathering really pays off...that´s looking great buddy!

Personally, I´d think you went a wee bit over the top with greeblies, but this does not affect the overall appearance at all and still fits into the SW universe. I like to wrap my mind around the actual use of a part and how (im)practical it would be on a "real" blaster…but that´s just me

AGAIN...WELL DONE! I really really like following this thread. have to post some of my own recent builds soon :)

Thanks, duders!

You're SO right, Markus, I thought the same exact thing. "Too many greeblies!!" I'm totally serious. I may tone it down, a bit.

Custom stuff like this usually goes the same way, for me. Play with greeblies, pull some off, put different ones on, take others back off, back and forth until eventually the dust settles and I've found a happy medium.

Like I said, it's CLOSE, but not totally finished. I really really wanted to put the coiled wire on this one, but might remove it. I had some smaller gauge wire on it at first, then swapped it out with what's now there. Maybe I'll go back to the thinner wire, maybe I'll go with NO wire at all.

I'm glad you said something, because I was feeling the same! Though I DO really like it in its current form, here's what it looked like last week...

As I learned in art class in college, it's better to go too far because you can always dial it back than to be conservative and leave possibilities undiscovered.

Already posted this on Eric‘s thread...

I really like the pulley discs, the grill is excellent!
And I would definitely add a wire, this design screams for it, maybe even colored wire...try it out

It‘s just all these small rods and stuff below the barrel, that‘s a tad too much imho. But I can relate why you felt the urge to fill the „voids“ underneath the barrel.

Those square bumpers are an ode to the Rexim based Stormtrooper blaster...very nice thought, but these don‘t fit there somehow.

You really motivated me to proceed with my own custom blaster, that I had in a drawer for years. It‘s a DL variant, but I want it to look very old/ worn and oldschool. Haven‘t found the right scope setup for it yet. As a matter of fact, I am unsure, if I want to add a scope at all

Yeah, those voids needed filling!

The bumpers are now gone, except the ones at the very rear.

Everything's been toned down, and I'm feeling like it's getting closer. I'll take pics later!

Just putting these pics here, before I forget. I've already added them to the SE-16 thread, but wanted to get them in my personal thread, as well!

I've actually done a couple more things to this guy, since these were taken. Mostly just paint stuff, but I needed to secure the barrel a little better, cleaned a little mess away from the barrel area, and the bomb tail fin front sight snapped off, so I'm working on that, too.

I also took a bunch of pics of some DL-44 blasters the other day. Don't think I've ever done a group shoot like this.

Here's some progress pics of my DL-18 Jabba's Palace Guard blasters!

Like I said in Tom's thread, they're currently in a state of flux, and some parts will be swapped, and some replaced, but I figured I'd put these here in my proper blaster thread.

Enjoy!

Thanks!!

It's just a Prusa MK2S, though I'd REALLY love to get one of those resin printers, especially since the prices dropped!!

I hate sanding PLA!

Agreed! I print on a Lulzbot mini, it's a little workhorse. I've been eyeing a Prusa, heard good things, and the bigger build plate would be nice. And I'm planning on grabbing one of the inexpensive resin printers in about 2 weeks - the Elgoo Mars l think- great fidelity for small parts, and less sanding.

Trust me, you WANT a resin printer. IMO Elegoo Mars is the best low cost option. And $100 less than when I bought mine!

Oh, the SE-16 now hangs on the wall in the bathroom!

I think I changed a few things with it, since the last photos were taken. I turned the Greedo missile around the "correct" way, removed a greeblie that was directly under the barrel and on top of the heat sink/grille, and maybe a few other small things.
